What Do People Think About Staying At UNICO 20°87° Hotel Riviera Maya?
We visited UNICO recently for a friend’s wedding and it did live up to its name as a luxurious 5 star resort in terms of ambiance, amenities, cleanliness, and food/beverage options. However, there were a few hiccups that have prompted me to write a review because I hope this will be feedback that can improve the overall experience for future guests. Like many other all-inclusive resorts that we’ve been to, restaurants do require a reservation for dinner. Upon check-in, we were assigned a concierge host that were supposed to help with any requests, questions, accommodations, and restaurant reservations, etc. during our stay. Through WhatsApp, I reached out to our concierge host, Luis, for a few requests, including late check out and reservations. I asked twice about late check out and my question was completely ignored and never answered. Instead, I had to visit the front desk myself to inquire. When I requested a reservation for 5 people at Cueva Siete, Luis sent me a confirmation text that it was completed. However, when we arrived at the restaurant that night, we were told that the reservation was for 4 people, not 5, and they could not accommodate this. The restaurant was only half filled and did not seem that crowded, but informed us they were extremely busy. We waited over 35 minutes standing at the front of the restaurant for the concierge management team (Armando Diaz), who told us that the restaurant could not accommodate. This was a fault of the concierge host due to miscommunication. Thankfully, I had text receipts with Luis, but even with this, Armando refused to accept responsibility and be accountable for the mistake. The hospitality industry is based on customer service and satisfaction. This was supposed to be an easy fix, yet they didn’t want to accommodate even though we suggested that we would be happy with an extra chair at the original 4-person table they were going to sit us at. After all the wasted time and frustrated words back and forth, they finally decided that they could sit us outside with an extra chair extended to a table. This whole situation negatively affected our overall experience because we had enjoyed our stay up until this point. The communication between the different teams definitely needs improvement. In addition, I also attempted to contact the hotel prior to checking in about arranging my friends’ rooms near each other and that was not successful. At check-in, I was told that this was still not possible and we had to wait for others to check out the next day. I’ve stayed at multiple hotels around the world and I’ve never met this much resistance when asking for certain accommodations. If it weren’t for these hiccups, this would have been one of the best all-inclusive resorts I’ve stayed in. As a 5 star resort for the price it’s valued at, I didn’t expect such disappointments.
Excellent, but pricey, way to spend some time in Mexico (an hour outside of Cancun). The facility was nice but showing some signs of age in some places. The service and staff were great. Food was abundant and of good quality. This was an adults only resort which made it great for older travelers. Nice community pool areas. The resort's beach was small and unadorned but well kept. I would go back.
One of the best resorts by far! The staff is spectacular, helpful and so kind! Everyone has a smile on their face. Our concierge Ismael helped us with booking our restaurant reservations and spa services and made the trip so easy for us! He also informed us of the daily activities going on at the resort! There were many dining options on the resort, the gym, spa and pool were fantastic, and the food was high quality. One of my most relaxing vacations yet, I can’t wait to go back!
I'm writing this review late, but we stayed in UNICO in January 2025. We enjoyed our stay here! The room was great - housekeeping always stayed on top of everything. We had fresh towels and they cleaned the room every day. The three stars were due to the rocky beach, so we stayed by the pool most of the time. The four stars were due to the horrible service of the one restaurant, 2087. The service was slow; I was there and had no idea why. So, if you have any dietary restrictions, be wary of that! However, for the rest of the restaurants, the service was incredible, the managers and servers were great, and they offered me so many options to eat! The chefs were fantastic! They'd make me a gluten-free bread made out of rice or potatoes and would find unique ways to make sure I ate a variety of meals. I appreciated that! Make sure you inform them about your dietary restrictions. The mojitos and the welcome drink were delicious! Overall, our stay was great. Again, thank you managers and chefs for your attention, empathy, understanding, and outstanding customer service!
I went to this place with my husband for 4 nights for our baby moon. Pros: we really liked the food, especially the steakhouse, and the staff were very kind, helpful and attentive, especially the housekeepers and pool waiters. The place is beautiful and has the vibe we were looking for. My main criticisms: 1) the concierge is not at all helpful. I handpicked a room in their website months in advance and was not granted that room and they offered nothing to make up for it. We got zero privacy in our room in a very noisy area. 2) our room was defective and the lights would turn on in the middle of the night (yes, absolutely unacceptable). I was terrified the first time it happened and it happened twice again. All we wanted was to rest and have good nights of sleep for the huge amount we paid per night. I spoke to the concierge and he did not do anything or send anyone in or even checked back with us. We should at least have been given the option of a different room. Nada. 3) The “inclusions” are a total scam. You still have to pay a huge fee for the spa services and they take out almost everything from your inclusions for one service. The website is very misleading about that. Will try a different resort next time!
I really love this place. From the staff, Personal host (Mendoza),Aqau TEAM RRRicardo,Andrea, SEXY Sebastian! The massage lady i had, Grace from the pool, Josue!! Everybody. The view from the ocean view rooms is amazing. They clean your rooms without having to ask and leave clean towels. I likes the place. You looking to relax this the place. Lite Fun this the place, Dj 2 or 3 times a week at the pool but not all day so you still get your r and r time!! Just go!!!!!
UNREAL EXPERIENCE!!!Service, vibe, facilities and rooms were unreal! Location is slightly far from the airport.We came from Australia and felt right at home - couldn’t recommend UNICO enough!
All of the restaurants felt like 5 star dining and the food was amazing. The staff was incredibly helpful, happy, and accommodating to all of our needs. We especially loved Eugenio, Alfredo, Diego, Alam, Sebastian, and Ismael. They made our experience very relaxing and comfortable.
Stayed here and the resort was good. Food was one of the better all inclusive we’ve been to. Why I did not give a five stars? None of the pre-selections that we made prior to coming or in our room, and when we asked our host about it, none of them were taken care of during our stay. We got locked out of our roomdue to a lock malfunction, and our shower did not drain when we first arrived, so there was a little bit of mishap there. The service and the waitstaff were the best part. The spa was way overpriced but we opted for massages on the beach. The nightly activities did not compare to other all inclusive. We have stayed at, so those could use a lot of work. Overall, we’ve stayed at a few all inclusive in that area and I would give it another shot just due to the food and service.
Checking in and out was a hassle. Food was horrible, bland and not seasoned. Reservations were impossible to get. Resort was beautiful but not worth the hassle of the one hour drive from the airport. We booked an excursion through the resort for a family member who was in a wheelchair with the assurance that our trip would be private and handicapped accessible and when the van showed up to pick us up, it was not private nor wheelchair accessible and they refused to refund our money stating that we didn’t read the fine print. From that point on, we felt targeted for bad service. We also tried to just gather in one suite and order room service ( since dinner reservations were impossible to get when targeted) and were told that there was a limit to the amount of food that could be ordered through room service even though all meals were for registered guests in our party‼️. We were also hassled several times per day to attend a meeting to become resort members. They were relentless and I cannot recommend nor would I return to this resort!

Very quiet relaxing resort. The house keeper was excellent.I loved our room which had a panaramic view. Room 1508The up keep needs some TLC. We noticed in the lobby and near pool area the funiture was worn and the hallway walls near the rooms looked dirty. Not what we should experience at a 5 diamond resort. There should be daily touch up paint applied similar to how cruise ships keep up the vessels. The furniture should be switched out once used up and worn.The spa area doesn’t feel luxurious at all.It needs to be remolded in my opinion.Our host was nice.Overall the service was good- Food was fair. The restaurants were nice and cozy.Zahilys who works with legendary membership didn’t take No for an answer.She even interupted my lunch and wouldn’t stop even after I gave her the eye to leave me alone. This was very annoying-We stayed for 7 days and spent $300 in cash tipping service providers. Don’t forget to bring tip money because they work very hard providing a service.

On our first night we received an appetizer with a lady bug on it. When we informed the restaurant staff, they did not apologize, accept responsibility or attempt to rectify the situation. We escalated the concern to our personal concierge, who dismissed us and said it was clear the bug “had just fallen” onto our food, rather than admit they had served us food with a bug. To be clear, I understand that these things happen, but I am upset no responsibility was taken and nothing was done to attempt to rectify the situation, which makes me concerned about their response if there was a bigger issue.
Great place for relaxing and enjoying the beach and pools. Staff was great and always make sure we had drinks in our hands.
Pros —- Overall clean resort and rooms- Very attentive servers and bartenders- Very polite staff throughout resort- Food was awesome, our favorite was the Japanese restaurant- Each restaurant has their own cocktail menu (the espresso martini at the Italian restaurant… yum!)- The nightly entertainment they had was enjoyable and fun- Lots of seating around the pool areaCons —- Our flight was delayed so we didn’t check in until around 5pm. However, the local host that would assist in reservations and whatever else leaves earlier than that each day. We decided to try to make reservations at concierge instead but were told we needed to wait for the host to reserve dinner at Superbia. We expected to hear from them the next morning… We stayed 4 nights and our host never contacted us. Thankfully, we figured it out with concierge the next day but concierge should be able to make all reservations without the host involved.- Can make SOME reservations for dinner online which was nice but can’t make all (Superbia) which defeated the purpose of it… once we finally got concierge to help us with reservations, we ended up needing to move others around to accommodate.- We’ve been to multiple resorts where the check in is more personalized. You would be walked to your room, they’d note which alcohol beverages you preferred, etc. We didn’t get that experience here. I’d imagine that was because our host was MIA.- The Superbia event they are doing this summer was neat but they did a fixed menu at the Mexican restaurant. The dinner was good but we would have preferred access to the typical menu.- The male and female hydrotherapy areas at the spa had multiple areas that were not working.- We really enjoyed the entertainment at night but wanted more! Not sure if this is a con though LOL- Typical of this area, there was lots of seaweed in the ocean and along the shoreline. There was also quite a bit of rock and coral. We spend more time at the pool but if the beach is important to you, then it’s something you should take into consideration.
I want to say that I’ve been to this beautiful resort about five times thus far. My last time was May 12-16, 2024 with 3 other couples for Mothers Day. We all had an amazing time with quality service at the pool, bars, restaurants etc. Out Host, Mario Cornejo was absolutely amazing. He always extends himself above all to provide excellent service. Mario is just a what’s app message away and he will be there within minutes. (Even at the pool while you’re enjoying your time). We’re returning in September and will request Mario once again!
Just this summer, my husband and I had visited UNICO twice. The stunning resort charmed us each time!Because we were there in June and then in July, this review might be long but, I think, worth it.In June, we thought about visiting AVA, but after reading reviews, we decided to try UNICO. This switch was made possible thanks to Cesar Hugo Lopez, our legendary reservation GURU who always gives us true and helpful advice!Many thanks to Israel and Roger, our mayor-domos at Unico, who promptly planned our stay after being confirmed. These two are the best in the business. They are professional, kind, and meticulous, and we proudly call them friends now. We were in building 5 and the panoramic views from the room were breathtaking--both in June and July.The first time we visited Unico, in June, we arrived right before the hurricane/tropical storm, so it rained on and off most days. Nonetheless, this resort's many indoor activities and superb service made our stay pleasant and romantic.All restaurants had great food and service. In particular, we enjoyed UNICO Grill (Andres and the wait staff were really polite and helpful!) I highly recommend the jalapeño bread and delicious steaks! The Mura House—thanks to Diana, the hostess who seated us without reservations. The sushi, Hibachi, and fish are delicious! Mi Carisa's breakfast French toast and evening offerings are amazing. Cueva for dinner (try the Mexican Coffee) is superb.Is essential to visit the lounge, main bar, and Inez Café for the best drinks and if you meet Grecia, a lovely waitress stationed there, will make you feel welcome with her charm.A month later, in July we traveled back to UNICO for SUPERBIA; this time with family! They loved UNICO as much as we did. AMAZING SUPERBIA was a week of cultural delights I recommend to everyone. The HOF pool was our customary location throughout the day, and we enjoyed meeting the various mixologist. The crew, especially Maria, Anderson (aka poochito), and Erik was on top of everything, and made the pool experience memorable. Israel and Roger, of course, planned all our activities, and their attention to detail is what made UNICO ideal in our hearts.I also want to send a thank you to Legendary Member Services representative Jahz for connecting us with Tavo and Salvador to review our membership. Beautiful resort!!! The staff is very helpful and the service was great. Food at the resort was really good and a nice variety.
Booked an “ocean view” room and upon check in, we have a view of the building across the way. Zero view of the ocean. False advertising!Edit: Approached the front desk and was told “too bad.” What a let down. This is our first trip together in 13 years and we had hoped to have a relaxing view to enjoy some quality time on. Instead we have a view of the entrance to the courtyard.What a let down.
Our stay in the Hall of Fame section in general was tremendous. The attention of the staff in general is very good. The daily activities are fun and the instructors like Angie, Sebastian and Rodrigo were super professional and pleasant. The massage with Mireya was very relaxing, so I recommend her.The nature of the place is incredible, we saw many free animals such as coatis, iguanas, eagles, pelicans and tepexcuinles.The buffet food as well as the gourmet restaurants are highly recommended.The kind butlers Rodrigo and Israel were available at all times.

I have a reservation for July 2024 but now I am afraid to go and I am thinking of canceling because I have seen many comments that have scared me a lot, “unique” I am very sorry but I am going to have to cancel I am very scared With people's comments, they have to have more control over that, this way you lose many customers and you lost me, I have already seen several comments that employees focus more on American tourism, that is a sign of racism now. That's why I'm going to have to cancel, it's incredible that a hotel of this category has such serious problems. You have no idea how many customers you've lost because of all those negative comments that have been placed on this hotel.
Overall a GREAT Experience, I've been to Unico before. My first visit was a little better; staff were a little more attentive in the past. ( First, visit the poolside waiters made rounds to get your drinks and food a lot more readily. This time I had to flag them down if I wanted something to eat. The facility seems to have a little wear and tear...loose shower heads our lampshade was crushed and bent....portions are smaller as well. The quality of the meals and the ability to order more makes up for the size but I did notice the difference. My only real complaint is that. Like most resorts, they push their vacation club/timeshare on you which is par for the course, however, giving the members all of the prime poolside seating is a bit much ( Most of the reserve seats were not even being used)While I understand that membership grants you some privileges. I think there should be some. Equity for those of us who paid the full price to stay there and want a pool side seat as well. I would definitely recommend UNICO overall.

I visited UNICO 5/21/24-5/24/24 for my birthday celebration. I have traveled all over the world and to several all-inclusive resorts and I do not feel this resort it worth the money. I feel this way for several reasons.When we arrived, we were greeted and asked to sit for the check-in process. During this time, they held our passport for 20 mins which isn’t the most comfortable. We were introduced to our concierge Ishmael who we were told would assist with our dinner, amenity reservations, or whatever could make our stay comfortable. Prior to our tour, someone from the front desk ran to catch us to discuss a balance. I paid the initial deposit and the remainder they sent me via email. Why make someone pay three different transactions?!?We requested reservations at the Italian restaurant for 8:30. During our tour, we were told there were straw hats in our room and ladies available to paint the hats. When we inquired we were told they were full for the day and would not be back until Saturday, this was Tuesday and we were leaving Friday. We were shown to the lunch buffet and told our concierge would text when the room was ready. I had to text him at 2:58pm, in which he confirmed the room was ready. Not very helpful.When we arrived at dinner we were told our reservations were for one guest at 9:30 although he toured two guests. The service was extremely slow at this restaurant, and this was a theme at every lunch and dinner. The power also went out three times during this one dinner. The steakhouse dinner was so slow we left and ordered room service after waiting 90 mins for hummus and one pasta dish.Other random and unpleasant things: the additional blanket in the room smelled the mildew and the beach was disappointing as it was covered with seaweed.Food was average and drinks were watered down, which Ive noticed is common wit all inclusive resorts. While I feel the grounds are nicely kept (pools and landscaping), I think the rest of the experience was that of a 3 star resort and not worth $500-600/per night whatsoever.
This resort was extremely underwhelming and did not meet expectations. We had issues with the reservations (our travel agent and Unico kept blaming each other) but the issue was not resolved reasonably. I had all of my wedding guests travel to Mexico for my wedding and expected Unico to be a “luxury” resort but it was not up to expectations, and certainly didn’t meet the quality of other luxury resorts I’ve been to. Check in took over 2 hours for us, and our guests experienced similar issues despite our asking the manager multiple times to ensure they had a smooth experience. The ocean view rooms had no ocean view and room replacements weren’t offered (other than checking out at noon the day of the wedding and checking into the new room at 3pm when the wedding was at 4). The only option we were given was to pay $280 a night to upgrade. None of our reservations or requests made prior to arrival were made, and our guests had a hard time eating in the restaurants because “members had pre-booked reservations before arrival” even though we had tried to make them as well. Two of the three pools felt like hot tubs, the beach was full of seaweed, and there were people walking around the beach trying to sell us drugs. The activities such as the chocolate classes and the mixology classes were all full even though we requested spots prior to arrival, the scheduled snorkeling didn’t happen and we were not given an alternative option. The front desk staff were useless as well—unable to help with anything or communicate with the travel agent when there were misunderstandings about reservations. The managers offered no help. The only two people that were helpful during our stay were our wedding coordinator Daniela and our host Ismael (however, our guests didn’t have the same good experience with their hosts). We received a free two night stay if we book 5 nights for our anniversary, but we will not be returning. Absolutely disappointing experience and I regret having my guests travel and pay to stay at this resort.
We’ve been to countless all inclusives in Mexico. This is by far the worst.Beach - there is none. Just a tiny, dirty strip covered in seaweed.Pools - badly need some love.Service - angry, neglecting, aggressive and always seem like they’d rather to be somewhere else.Food - generally not good and they rush you at the restaurants (if you’re lucky enough to get a reservation) saying they need to seat next guests. Aguachiles and Japanese were good.Ambiance - doesn’t feel like I’m in Mexico. They try to cater to the lowest common denominator of American palates, unsuccessfully.Also the restaurants are not adequately air conditioned. Too warm to enjoy meal.Don’t waste your money. For the same price there are plenty of amazing options in the area.
Recently spent 4 nights here in early May. The property was very nice and very well maintained. The decor and ambience throughout the resort, restaurants and rooms was very well done. The food throughout the resort was really good, and it should be for what you pay. The drinks were good as well. There were some fantastic and enthusiastic bartenders. The room was very comfortable as well as the bed. Bathroom was spacious with an enormous shower. The balcony was a very nice perk as well! Some things I think it missed the mark on where: the shuttle service. When we arrived at Cancun airport we had to wait outside for nearly an hour for the shuttle. This was the worst experience i have had in my ten years coming to Cancun. Typically I schedule our own transfer but this time we took advantage of the resort shuttle and I regretted it. The next item was the check in process was extremely slow, and unorganized. The last thing you want to do after traveling, waiting an hour for a shuttle, then an hour plus ride is waiting another hour for check in. Lastly, we wish it was a bit more lively at the pool area. It was fun when they would play music or have the dj by the pool! All in all we did have a very nice weekend at the property, and enjoyed as much of the property as we could. I would recommend this property to friends and family.
I am a little late with review. We stayed at Unico from April 27 to May 4th. This was our 4th trip there and it is still one of our favorite adult resort. It never disappoints.We were 2 couples and we stayed in the villa on the top floor above restaurant 2087. Can’t say enough about this ocean front room. Very modern villa with 2 king size rooms, large living area with extra bath. Balcony is beautiful with nice furniture and 2 hot tubs. Spent quite a bit of time relaxing on balcony. Had the chefs supper in the room one night which was awesome. The chef, staff and the service was great and the food was delicious.We spend most of the days at the HOF pool. Big thank you to the pool staff, the bartenders, our butlers for reserving the chairs every day. They never missed a beat. We reserved the cabana one day and had a special chef’s lunch. It was delicious.The food at all restaurants is always delicious. Never fails. The only complaint I would have is the long wait time to get served at 2087. We went twice and was the same wait both times. The food however was very good and they serve a wonderful breakfast buffet.As for our butlers Javier and Rodrigo. This is the 3rd time we had Javier and twice we had Roberto. They are the best. They are always very attentive with what we asked for and had everything ready for us on our arrival. Everything from start of vacation to end was awesome, from reserving chairs, dinners, organizing special dinner in room and lunch at cabana. Thanks to both of them, our stay was wonderful. They went above and beyond with everything. Cannot thank them enough.We will definitely be returning.

An amazing, luxurious experience at Unico 2087.Positives- Food was of high quality and plenty of options to choose from.- Our local host, Camargo was extremely helpful and able to provide us with information on daily activities and arrange for an alternate birthday surprise in my room as we don’t drink alcohol.- Staff are extremely friendly and respectful at all times.- Wildlife on the hotel grounds are free to roam/treated well and the hotel grounds are maintained daily by gardeners.- Overall cleanliness was great and room service was completed twice daily.- Excursions booked directly through the hotel were of high quality and transportation arrived on time.- Greeted at the hotel with fresh hand towels and a speedy service to our room after a long flight was highly appreciated.Negatives- None to note, all in all; we were extremely impressed with the hotel.
Our stay at Unico left much to be desired. My husband and I came to celebrate our anniversary which was suppose to be a special occasion however we regret choosing this resort over others in Cancun. Firstly, the location was inconveniently far from the airport, and wasn’t worth the drive. Our flight was shorter than the hotel transfer and check in process. When we arrived to the hotel, everything appeared great and looked fancy, as we were greeted with welcome drinks and a clean hand towel. Upon our arrival, a vacation maker representative tried to convince us to listen to their 1-1.5 hour sales pitch in exchange for a free couples message (this spa service is normally $800 dollars, or 75% of resort credit, which we never used). Once we finally got to our room, the thermostat was set to 58 degrees, it was freezing—even the bell boy agreed! The drain was clogged in our shower, luckily maintenance was able to fix it after we put in a request for that along with the TV. All these red flags and this was only day one of our trip.While the service was adequate, the employees were friendly and the amenities basic, they fell short of the luxury one would expect from a resort claiming to be five diamond rated (not stars). Still trying to wrap our heads around how they got that credential!? The hotel itself was clean and smelled nice due to the at least 100 industrial diffusers, but showed signs of needing maintenance, and the lack of fans in common areas made for uncomfortable temperatures, particularly by the bars and restaurants.Most disappointing was the quality of the food, which lacked authenticity and did not live up to the standards of a purportedly high-end resort. The power went out twice while we were dining in the restaurants, which we should mention, were almost fully booked by the time we arrived!! On our check in, we began making all the reservations for our dining, one of the restaurants was already fully booked for nearly our entire stay. How does an all inclusive resort require a reservation to their restaurants but doesn’t have any open availability?? Moreover, the menus at all the restaurants were weird and the food tasted HORRIBLE. The food by the pool and Mexican restaurant specifically had possibly the worst tacos ever, I wish we took photos of them falling apart, full of fat and cartilage, and barely warm. My husband said Taco Bell is 100 times better than this and wishes there was one there!! This is a sad truth which is a disgrace to the Mexican cuisine which apparently at this resort consists of fish stick tacos (and no, I’m not joking, these tacos were literally made with frozen fish sticks). C’mon, no corn or even street corn, Fajitas, mole, decent tacos, churros or anything remotely Mexican about the food or hotel. Literally a food truck has more edible food…even I can cook better than this!!Despite these MINOR shortcomings, the music and DJ were at least enjoyable. However, issues with towel availability for both the pool and room were persistent throughout the stay, adding to the overall underwhelming experience. beach access was disappointing due to limited availability and an abundance of seaweed, without any nets provided. This greatly hindered our ability to enjoy the beach and all vegetation the blocking the view of the ocean.In summary, Unico fell short of expectations and proved to be a poor value for the money. The subpar food, lack of amenities, and pushy sales tactics overshadowed any positives, making it difficult to recommend to others. Additionally, the pressure to buy into their vacation program felt like an exploitation of Mexico rather than a genuine offering. You could easily find a better deal at a different all inclusive and won’t be left hungry for actual food!! Travelers, Save your time and money and please go elsewhere. You’re welcome in advance!
4.5 out of 5... a very nice experience in general, with beautiful rooms and beach, good food and drink quality, and a quiet atmosphere... but some flaws in service were quite noticeable, specially in some of the restaurants and particular employees at the beach.
I will say I had the highest hopes for this resort. I actually previously missed a trip here and wanted to try it so bad I thought I just had to book… After booking a last minute trip for four nights I can’t say I would recommend this place.The hotel overall was ok, which is not what I would expect based on the price. We had a swim out, but the pool could use refinishing as could the shower. The room was just another room, nothing spectacular. Of the four nights we were there the cleaning was inconsistent… we asked for shower gel everyday multiple times because ours was empty from the beginning and it was never brought we ended up buying some… also we called for towels everyday because once the room was cleaned they would take the towels and leave nothing, she told us to just call because it was faster when asked. Only one of the nights were our sheets turned down which I would have appreciated the nights prior. Apparently we had a local host but I never saw them.The resort was strange. Not a very enthusiastic or fun resort, very much a lame energy. No music by the pool, the pool was also like a jacuzzi it was so hot. Also strangely one of the days the power went out over five times and other days only a few which was odd. Also walking throughout the hotel there was a vomit odor quite often which was nauseating.I think the service is better if you buy into their time share thing or that’s what I experienced. They engaged with people that were members and not really with those of us that weren’t which ya know I’m aware business is business but it doesn’t feel too good. We tipped well, but the service was dismissive and more often than not we overheard the staff complaining of guests in Spanish.Overall the drinks were good, the food was okay, but if you’re going to the Cancun/ Riviera Maya area maybe try somewhere else
Our group had a so-so experience with UNICO 2087 in January. Let me start off by saying that the grounds and rooms are very nice but food and drinks are just decent compared to other resorts at the same price level.UNICO customer service was extremely poor in regards to traveling with a group of 8. In order for us to eat any dinners together, we would have had to make reservations at any single restaurant weeks in advance. I understand that this is how some resorts operate, but the UNICO concierge service knew ahead of time that we were traveling as a group and did not mention that reservations were necessary. In addition, my husband and I spent multiple days at the resort on our own. We checked in on a Saturday, and there were multiple restaurants the next Thursday and Friday that were already completely booked for TWO diners. This is just silly! Who wants to plan every meal in advance when traveling to a beach all inclusive?Additionally, our group of 8 requested to be in the same block of rooms in order to share a swim up pool. I do realize that this was a request and was in no way guaranteed, but UNICO originally put 6 of the guests at one swim up pool and separated me & my husband to a different building, although they were aware that the group was specifically traveling to the resort for my birthday. UNICO made a huge fuss that it was not possible for my husband and I to be with the rest of the group, while three rooms in that block were currently vacant. Eventually they did give us one of those three rooms, but the lack of customer service and attention to detail was well below what this same group has experienced at other resorts.On a positive note, the restaurant, bar, & room service employees were all amazing.Our group collectively decided that the experience was bad enough that we would never recommend a group travel here. Our experience as a party of 2 (after the rest of the group departed) was much higher than it was as a group of 8.
I can’t say enough about how much we enjoy this resort Laura our concierge was top notch she went above and beyond making sure we had everything we needed to make our stay perfect, we will definitely request her on our next visit. It was sad to say goodbye for now to her. All the staff are very accommodating I wish I could remember all the wonderful names of our servers, but our beach butler Maria and server on the beach Louis were a lot of fun and gave us many laughs. The food is the best we’ve had at a all-inclusive 5 star.
We came here for our anniversary and enjoyed it very much. Alberto was our concierge and was so helpful! I needed ice packs for travel and he arranged for that to happen. We had a Ocean view room that we loved, it was clean and beautiful. The bathroom was spacious and had a modern design. The view was breathtaking and we enjoyed breakfast out on the balcony a couple times. Staff was great, check in and check out was a breeze. We were welcomed at check in with a warm towel and a fresh drink. Great adult resort. The cons, unfortunately one of the pools were closed due to maintenance. They tell you at check in to go and reserve a chair at the pool early and this creates a problem at the pool. We also sat through a presentation that was very aggressive toward the end, but you can easily just say No to that, but we got a free massage for enduring lol. Overall beautiful resort with great service.
My husband and I just spent 5 nights at this resort for our honeymoon. We had Alberto as our local host and he was awesome! Extremely helpful in booking spa services and dinner reservations. Eugene was our waiter by the pool every day and he was outstanding. The tablet in our room didn’t function properly but that’s minor compared to all of the great things. Pro tip: if you want great poolside service, you should bring cash. We tipped a bit heavily on day 1 and the outstanding service carried through the week. The people who work by the pool are constantly working hard and they should be compensated for that. I highly recommend this resort!
