This quaint Boutique Hotel is full of charm and a wonderful staff. Delia, the manager, went above and beyond to make sure we loved everything about our room and vacation. The housekeeping staff did an excellent job every day. They were personable and willing to accommodate all of our requests. It's within walking distance to a local bakery and fine dining restaurants. The morning chef makes a delicious breakfast sandwich. The bartender, I think his name was Jerome, made the best drinks and was like a ray of sunshine. He was such a friendly & Happy person. There is something magical about The Fred!

But what truly transformed our stay from wonderful to unforgettable was one extraordinary individual >>> Delia Almestica, Guest Hotel Manager.

In all my years of traveling, I have rarely encountered someone who embodies hospitality with such genuine passion, grace, and excellence. Delia doesn’t simply manage a hotel; she creates experiences, builds relationships, and makes every guest feel like the most important person on the property.

I was originally booked with just a room for myself, but because of the exceptional level of service Delia provided, I had 4 of my friends moving from their existing accommodations, reserving four additional rooms. Excellent for a 3 1/2 star. Service was over the top. Friendly and helpful without smothering you. Room was large, clean. Quiet and comfortable. Food was excellent. If you drink the bartenders can fix pretty much what ever you want and they have a large menu of specialty drinks. Gorgeous views , especially as the sun goes down. I'm used to 4 and 5 star hotels and was pleasantly surprised by The Fred. Would stay there again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Fred. We stayed in May and honestly, loved that it was a slower time of year. We felt as though we had a private resort and beach. Delia was absolutely amazing at communication before and during our stay. Melissa, Angela, Paula were great providing amazing food and bat service. The views are hard to believe they're real. The room was quaint and had character. It stocked with great snacks and mini bar. If I had any complaints, the bed was a little firm but everyone has their preference. I would definitely stay here again.

My stay at the Fred was amazing. Everyone was so welcoming. The property was beautiful, clean, & well maintained. The front desk manager Delia was very professional & helpful throughout the stay. Being able to text the front desk staff was so helpful and convenient. Special shout out to Jerome, the day time bartender. His professionalism, amazing energy, & charismatic nature really enhanced our experience there. The house keeping staff was amazing and always on top of keeping the rooms clean. 10000/10 would recommend the Fred!

We had an amazing time at The Fred! From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was relaxed, welcoming, and perfectly Caribbean.
The food was absolutely fantastic — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. It was one of the best meals we had on the island. The beachfront setting makes everything even better, with gorgeous views and the sound of the waves just steps away.

They also had incredible live entertainment while we were there, which created such a fun and vibrant vibe without feeling overwhelming. It truly felt like the perfect island evening.

And a special shoutout to the bartender — the drinks were superb! Creative, perfectly balanced, and exactly what you want while enjoying beautiful beaches and a tropical sunset.

If you’re in St. Croix, this spot is a must. Amazing food, beautiful setting, great music, and outstanding drinks — what more could you ask for?

Went to the restaurant bar. The atmosphere was amazing with the light breeze and the drinks kept coming ... I ordered the smash burger, cheese omelette and hot dog. Every thing was above average though it took a while before food arrived. The service was ok by the bartender and cashier and waiter all together. The poor man ran from one end to the other.

People I've talked to say the Fred used to be awesome, but over time and new owners it has gone down hill....Our room had electrical problems that existed our whole stay. No one ever showed up to even try to get our bathroom light to work. Our electronic door lock stopped working, and with no spare locks , they drilled out the door jam and installed a sliding bolt with a padlock. Ive never seen anything quit like it .They have a great location right on the beach , The pool and hot tub were nice and they have an outside bar you can sit at . They also have a limited menu that wasn't bad....
With a bit of work this place could be a real gem.

Yara was outstanding throughout my entire stay. Her attention was impeccable—always attentive, available, and genuinely willing to help. The cleanliness was excellent, and her professionalism truly made a difference. Without a doubt, she is one of the best employees the hotel has.

As for the hotel, the experience was very positive. The facilities are very well maintained, the atmosphere is calm and welcoming, and the oceanfront location is spectacular. All the staff were friendly and helpful, making the stay comfortable and enjoyable. Definitely a place I would return to and highly recommend.

We visited here when we docked for the day on our cruise. First the views are amazing from this venue. Make sure you have ample time, as service was extremely slow, even for the island. 20 minutes between drinks and 45 minutes for food, and that was after we sat for over 10 minutes. The seared tuna sandwich was good and cooked medium rare. The chicken quesadillas were good and crispy. The drinks were strong and good. We did not try their tacos, but tables around us did, and they looked good. They were out of many of the menu items the day we visited. Cash or card accepted. Be aware that they automatically charge a gratuity.

We had an absolutely amazing time at The Fred this past weekend! It was so incredible that we even considered changing our flight to stay longer! The staff was outstanding—shoutout to Heather, Jerome, Jeff, and the front desk team! The chef did his thing with the CRUZAN breakfast and the fried cauliflower. If I could give zero stars I would.
Today is 12/23 and I was due to arrive at The Fred in St. Croix on 12/28 (Yes in 4 days) when the hotel supervisor lied and said they had an issue with the system and my reservation was canceled. I booked my reservation in April of 2025 and it was PAID in FULL. The supervisor Dealyah never called, emailed, or apologized for the error they had but instead gave my room away. I called to ensure everything is okay (again 4 days before I arrive) because I received a weird email that says I made a modification (which I never did)! The hotel supervisor lied and said first I didn't have reservation, then she said she found it and I cancelled and she refunded my money. NONE of this is true. I NEVER called to cancel, I NEVER emailed to cancel, I NEVER spoke or mentioned I would cancel. The hotel didn't do ANYTHING to accommodate me and my friends and family after this error and NEVER even apologized for their error. This is a word of caution. I would NEVER book with this hotel and I would say RUN and share with your friends and family about staying away from this shady hotel.

Our stay at here was as fantastic from start to finish. The entire hotel was exceptionally clean and well-kept, creating a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. The staff’s hospitality was outstanding, friendly, attentive, and always ready to help. We especially loved the environment right next to the waves, which made our stay even more relaxing. The resort’s decision to extend pool and bar hours was a great touch that kept us and other guests happy throughout the evening. Staff was amazing. They accommodated every need and was extremely attentive. The area was beautiful and kept clean. Amazing views of the ocean and ported ships. The owner even extended pool and bar hours for the guests. The overall atmosphere of The Fred was the highlight of my entire vacation. Booked at the last minute when everything else on the island was already booked up. I would not say this “exclusive” or anything special.
Rooms are ok, beds hard as a rock, no extra blankets, fixtures that don’t work, a/c unit is either on and super cold or off and the room gets stuffy. The cute fluffy pink robe in the bumper video doesn’t exist. Towels weren’t anything special or nice. I saw no pool or beach towels.
Bar is ok, servers drinking while working. Unreliable drink results unless it’s canned or bottled.
No rail/barrier on the front porch that is ground level to keep drunks off and way from the room door.
Terrible music starting at 930am.
The hot tub is not hot. Pool was ok.
Beach loungers have seen better days. No shade during the afternoon.
Boutique had some cute stuff that’s overpriced. The “adults only” section had some unique items to include pre-opened. condoms.
Overall it’s a cute building and has potential as another review stated, but I would not come back or recommend.

Substandard, old, and a bit creepy....kinda like they tried to put a new bandaid over an old wound...no hot water, no on-site maintenance to resolve issues... tried to contact front desk several times, no help. I will say the outdoor bar/pool area was decent. Glad it was only 2 days.

We visited The Fred on a resort day pass we booked through ResortPass a few months ahead of our St. Croix cruise stop.

Honestly, we left pretty disappointed. Calling this a “resort” is a real stretch; it’s really just a small hotel on the side of a road with a couple of nearby beach bars. We came for sand and a beach day, but instead found rocks. Only a handful of brave people were venturing into the water. There were maybe 5–6 chairs on the “beach” and no umbrellas.

We stayed for a couple of hours, had a drink at the bar, and decided to leave. The only good thing about this place is its location; it’s an easy 15-minute walk from the ship. As for that Tripadvisor award? Honestly, we don’t see how it earned it.

We loved St. Croix! The Fred was okay, at best. The staff (mostly) was pleasant, but not extremely helpful. We were given misinformation on more than one occasion and complaints were not addressed. Rooms were clean, but towel racks fell off the wall, the shower flooded, television didn’t work, beach towels were ancient, and coffee was not replenished. The pool was very nice, as was the bar. Paula was an excellent bartender, but drinks were very expensive with prices changing daily.
The hotel has lots of potential, but at this point, I would not return.

Not worth your time or money.
The room was not as described. The "pool view" room had a view of the back of the hotel office where one of the staff had tied up their dog to bark for hours, ending only when they went home around 10 pm. We were then awakened by what I assume were delivery drivers on the road side of the room with loud stereo's, loud conversations and loud vehicles.
One day into a four day stay, we complained and told the staff that we would be leaving the next day due to the problems. The next day the staff told us that the last two days would be refunded and we took off to another island and another hotel.
The Fred never refunded the last two nights, so we took a $1,000 hit to get out.
Don't make the same mistake I did.

-The sunset was stunning
- The beach front
- off season price

The Bad:
Location surrounding has not much to do. Locals told us absolutely do not walk around at night.
The food was terrible
Everything shuts down by 8
The rooms need updating. Rusted lamps and damaged furniture.
The pool was dirty and the pool floats were gross.
Keep in Mind the advertised beet hotel from TripAdvisor is from 2022.

Room and front porch
They were very accommodating before we arrived.. Text message’s as to what we needed for our stay..Our check in was very nice and Delia was so sweet and very helpful with everything.. My husband drinks non alcoholic beer so she made sure to have that . And Chip the General manager made it happen.. 😜 our cleaning Lady Valencia was amazing and really went above and beyond.. But everything else was down Hill 😢 We started our days with going down for ice and my husband always went in to get it. We did not inconvenience anyone! Until the last two mornings and the Bar guy was so very rude.. Told my husband he had things to do and couldn’t help him until after he got the Bar Setup. So my husband just had someone else help.. The Sand Castle Hotel down from the Fred saved our vacation.. They fed us .. We tried to do laundry at the Fred and they said no.. So Sand Castle let me do laundry while we were at the beautiful beach.. Dee Dee at the the Sand Castle we just fell in love with her and the beautiful team.. All the other employees at the Fred were always in Drama with who’s job was what.. Leaving to go home .. Back to Texas yay 😜

This is by far the best location to stay or just spend the day in all of St. Croix! The food is fantastic, the service is warm and friendly! The Fred is newer, clean and impeccably maintained. They are located directly on the beach with great views to sit and watch the surf. For a small fee, you can use the pool, the beach and kayaks. There was a great Caribbean music DJ. Our waitress, Wendy, was exceptional! If you are here with a cruise ship, The Fred is located within walking distance of the ships and you can skip any excursion fees! It truly has everything!

I was hesitant due to the mixed reviews. We stopped by here during our cruise, and it was a wonderful stop. Do not buy the day pass, it’s open to the public. We didn’t buy any food or drinks. We just enjoyed the beach and the facilities they had to offer, but it was a nice stop for the day. A quick 10 minute walk from the port. We actually went a few yards down from the beach closest to the Fred and it was less rocky. Consider water shoes. We didn’t necessarily need them, but I wouldn’t mind having them.

Ok location. Check in desk helpful. WiFi down. Only 1 tissue in box, obviously for show. Random shampoos/refilled bottles. Bar/restaurant ok, had to ask for breakfast as if doing a favor. Sat for 15 min to check out when desk clerk helped new visitors before me.

Deserves a zero. Stay away from this miserable excuse for a restaurant. I had a miserable experience last March (2024) and decided to try again yesterday on March 1. Booked a reservation on their site and upon arrival they veered completely closed up….on a Saturday night in peak season! Things happen but why do they not even try to reach people who have reservations? Unbelievably poor customer service across the board is why. Nothing has changed at this miserable excuse for a hotel and restaurant. We can only hope they go out of business and a new owner and management team come on board. I live in Frederiksted and will be passing the word to unsuspecting visitors at every opportunity.

Shuttle did not show up at airport to picknus up despite getting email confirmation. I had to call and ask for a shuttle to be sent. When they tell you at checkin that there are no refunds if you decide to cancel/transfer elsewhere, you know you are in trouble. No response to multiple requests for fresh hand towels after bathroom flooded from clogged up shower drain and we used towels to dry up the floor. My husband cleaned out the shower drain and told them that he did. They did not seem to care. Work being done on stairs to beach every morning starting between 6:30-7am so woke up to sound of power tools. No place to rinse sand off feet at beach or by pool. Customer service does not exist at this place. I wanted to buy a tshirt in gift shop but they couldn't be bothered to look for one in boxes in storeroom. Say it is adult only but allow people to buy day passes and bring kids in to beach area and restaurant.

Spent a week here in January 2025. This is a quaint hotel in a great location with respect to Frederiksted, great beaches, dining and hiking. We didn't need to rent a car as most things were walking distance. We took taxis a few times to go to Christiansted and hiking on the other end of the island.
Our room was clean with tremendous views of the water.
The staff were mostly friendly and helpful. We learned that if you show a bit of interest in them, they are extremely friendly and helpful.
We ate 4 or 5 meals at the restaurant and every one was fantastic. The service was good but not fast but this is the pace you find in the Caribbean. The bar is a fun atmosphere with entertainment 4 or 5 days/nights a week. All the entertainment we saw was quite good.

We recently stayed at The Fred Hotel for 4 days and 3 nights, and we absolutely loved it. Our room was the James, an oceanfront suite. The room featured a very comfortable king-size bed, a safe for storing our electronics and passports, and unique, tasteful decorations throughout the suite. The mini living room area included a private balcony, perfect for sitting outside to enjoy the fresh air and stunning scenery. There was also a mini fridge stocked with complimentary drinks.

We had the chance to try some delicious food for lunch and dinner at The Fred Restaurant, conveniently located next to the bar and pool area and just a short walk from our room. My personal favorite appetizers were the chicken nachos at lunch and the fish tempura during dinner. For lunch, I highly recommend The Fred Burger or the tacos, and for dinner, the grilled salmon or red snapper are must-tries.

The staff was fantastic, but I want to give a special thank you to Krystal and Chelsea, who attentively catered to all of our requests. If you’re planning a trip to St. Croix, Virgin Islands, I highly recommend considering The Fred Hotel for its comfort, excellent service, and relaxing atmosphere.

Thank you again for such a wonderful experience—it was our first time visiting St. Croix, and it couldn’t have been better.

I hate to leave a bad review, but my experience at The Fred during festival was pretty bad. Was “greeted” so rudely at the front desk that it was almost comical. The very pregnant clerk did not smile or say a single word to me other than “sign here.” I live on island so I KNOW this isn’t how we treat people here. I hate that to be anyone’s first impression of stx. I arrive to my room, ready to go change/wash/hit the parade and alas - no towels! I had to use my scarf to dry my hands. I try calling the front desk multiple times, no answer. I walk down there and explain that I have no towels. She replies “I know. They will bring you some”. I probe for a when/how and get nothing. So I head to the parade as-is. Room has no closet, just a hook on the wall with hangers. There was no lotion or sunblock or bath mat. TV didn’t work. The corner of the bed was so sharp that I have a huge bruise on my leg now, days later. Feels like the level of service/room features you’d get at a 1-2 star hotel. WiFi code was illegible (no one was at the front desk when I tried to get help with this) and I couldn’t get solid service in my room so trying to connect with friends for the festivities was more stressful than needed. I also could hear everything in other rooms and outside of my room - making sleep tricky.

On the plus side, the views are lovely, the hotel ambiance and room itself were nice and AC was icy cool. The bathroom was huge and nice. The location of the hotel is also great for being able to walk to events in Fsted during festival. For the price point and rude service, I would not recommend and do not plan to stay again but maybe if you bring your own towels and get a good price, it is worth a look? Maybe my expectations were too high but I was taken aback by the basics this hotel was lacking.

The location and the views are amazing, however staff (bartenders) were not happy and spent time arguing about the workload and who was doing what. One even threatened to walk out. They ignored patrons, not at all welcoming or friendly even after a respectable tip. Very unfortunate. In addition, the deck outside has trash from the night before and only a couple of chaise lounges.

Been wanting to come here, finally got the chance! While on a day passing, I am so glad we did and will definitely come back. People are super friendly and accommodating. Food and drinks are good and prices are very reasonable for a pool and bar on the beach. Someone wrote this place is underrated, I would agree. Good vibes and music as well! We are here right before Christmas and the decorations are spot on!

I stayed at The Fred for several days recently again and it's my go-to resort without a doubt. The staff is amazing - food is great - and atmosphere is just what anyone looking to unwind deserves. There is always lots to do in the area - shopping, golf, different food options, water sports, beach bars, and more. Highly recommended - I will be back soon!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Fred! From the beautiful views, luxurious pool and hot tub, lively bar scene, spacious rooms, relaxing spa, and rainfall shower, the Fred has it all! The entertainment from the Moko Jumbies and fire dancers was a cool bonus! Would come back!

We spent the last four nights at the Fred. Food and drinks were delicious. The room had a powerful AC unit which is critical for us to be comfortable. The bathroom was spacious. The staff was super helpful and responsive. They even helped us set up a boat tour of nearby beaches and snorkeling sites. We will be back. Thank you!
