La Casa de la Playa: A True Dream Vacation
La Casa de la Playa was an outstanding resort and an unforgettable experience for our family. We often talk about “dream vacations,” and this was absolutely one of them. From start to finish, we were blown away by the location, design, cuisine, and—most of all—the people.
The service here is exceptional. Our butlers, Naftali and Gabriela, made us feel instantly comfortable and cared for. Jorge, our favorite driver, was incredibly helpful throughout our stay, and Miguel, who led our tequila tasting, was friendly, knowledgeable, and a joy to spend time with. Truly, every staff member was attentive and kind—we never heard “no,” only warm smiles and a genuine willingness to help.
The design of the resort is stunning, with handcrafted details throughout that beautifully showcase Mexican craftsmanship, especially the woodwork. One of the most unique highlights was the jellyfish tank in our room. We loved visiting the lab and learning about the conservation program and how the jellyfish are raised—such a memorable and meaningful experience.
The excursions were fantastic and thoughtfully arranged, with private transportation that made a big difference, especially at busy sites like Chichén Itzá, where we avoided the large bus crowds. Dining was another major highlight. Eating at the Michelin-starred HA’ was unforgettable, and all four restaurants on property delivered an incredible, truly gastronomic experience. The 24/7 wine cellar and chocolate room were dangerous in the best way, and instead of the tequila bar, we opted for a tequila tasting—which I highly recommend.
Having our own private pool was wonderful, but we also never felt crowded anywhere on the property. The resort felt peaceful, spacious, and intimate, with plenty of room to relax and enjoy every amenity.
Accessibility Notes (Important to Know)
Our group included mobility impairments and a full-time wheelchair user. I would rate the resort 3 out of 5 for accessibility. While much of the property is accessible, there are limitations: no pool ramps, some inaccessible restrooms, stairs-only areas (including the rooftop pool), and transportation challenges with the wheelchair-accessible van, which caused us to miss an excursion. We also could not access the beach due to a lack of boardwalk, or certain dining experiences due to stairs.
That said, we would absolutely do this trip again, even with a wheelchair. The experience was exceptional—we simply recommend that travelers with mobility needs go in well-informed.
