Overall, rooms were clean and tidy, pools were clean and spa service was phenomenal!
Only thing that was a miss for us was food. We are vegetarian and it was a struggle to find quality dishes. Most of the restaurants have plenty of seafood and meat options but limited on vegetarian (except the pool bars that had a few options). Additionally, food take forevver to come. I presume this is because everything is being made fresh but not sure why it takes so long for food to come. Resort was mildly filled relatively not busy.
Among other things, I don’t recommend the all inclusive plan unless you drink heavy or eat a lot of food. For a family of 3 our avg spend was $300-$350 per day total, all inclusive was $450 per night which saved us some cash. There is a happy hour from 11-12pm and 3-5pm so we just bulk ordered buy one get one free drinks in those!
Lastly, be wary of the receipts. They charge VAT 16% and a 5% service charge and there is a line to add a tip in all receipts. Just be mindful of that when tipping. I strongly recommend a $10-$15 tip to a pool server who will take good care of you and even slide you an occasional drink or two extra! Just play the game well!
Overall, really fun experience and a nice walk along the beach too!
When I brought up that solmar is not honoring our original benefits, slowly taking things away. I was wondering if it would continue with the new company. She immediately barked at me that "Listen, I'm not going to be anyone's punching bag!"
I had not raised my voice, said anything accusatory, nor punched her. She was aggressive and trying to intimidate us, and it did not work.
She told me, "Even though I have 18 weeks left, that someday we won't be able to book a stay at all with the type of plan you have. "
So you are wanting me to sign something new at a place that is no longer honoring original contracts?
The place is absolutely beautiful, location incredible. I've been an owner here since it was built. This new management is so far sad af.
We will continue to come until they turn into the worms they seem to be..

The food was absolutely amazing—each dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. It’s been a while since our visit, but I’m still craving that breakfast, even now that I’m back in the USA. The prices were reasonable considering the quality and the location, making it a great value for such an outstanding experience.
The service was exceptional, with friendly and attentive staff who made us feel right at home. We were able to enjoy a leisurely breakfast without feeling rushed. I also heard they offer a buffet two days a week, so I would recommend checking with them to confirm the details.
Overall, this place exceeded my expectations, and I definitely plan to return on my next visit. If you’re in the area, make sure to stop by for breakfast—you won’t regret it! It’s an experience worth having.
Somehow, while on their Land's End website, we were "redirected" to rooms available at their Pacific Dunes resort, which is in the middle of nowhere, 30 minutes out of town with high winds and controlled access to transportation back to town.
Please learn from our regrettable mistake and ensure you're actually getting a room at Land's End.
We have owned with SolMar for 29 years, but new management will no longer allow us to book more than one week whereas previously we stayed several weeks in our penthouse.
What happened to their great service?
Unfortunately, our stay in October 2024 was a significant departure from our previous experiences.Upon our arrival, our Penthouse had a strong urine odor, which made us feel sick. The first response was they did not smell anything and they sprayed chemicals in our room. We opened all the doors and tried to work with management again the next day, requesting they take out the mattresses and possibly exchange the couch. After 3 days the issue was partially resolved by Renato, however he didn’t seem to show compassion and did not follow through asking thing were ok We dealt with the urine smell for the entire stay. We just didn’t use that side of the suite.
The other significant part of our stay was that the master bathroom had issues with the shower drain and the jacuzzi tub. The shower didn’t drain. That was another day waiting for confirmation that maintenance was coming to fix it.
Upon trying to use the jets in the jacuzzi tub it released a lot of black particles that made it unusable and unsanitary. Another day of maintenance in our room on vacation. Despite maintenance attempts, and them telling it was fixed, I tried to use the tub again the day before departure and the problem persisted.
It wasn’t until we said we were going to going to write a trip advisor review that we got a Renato to speak with us with compassion.
At that point, 1 day before departure, Renato offered massages and an upgrade (if available) on our next trip (we were due back in January)
We didn’t post anything, hoping that they would follow through.
We are now finishing up our two-week January stay. We arrived January 05. We had given plenty of notice of our arrival and yet there were no upgrades available. (We totally understand! But don’t us give hope where there isn’t any!) We did, however, still want to meet with the new general manager to share our previous experience. After a few emails, we finally sat down with Eduardo on January 8. He seemed to listen and said he was working very hard on trying to secure an upgrade for our second week. We asked if, at minimum, he would honor the massages Renato offered from October. My wife doesn’t like them, so she asked if I could have both, and he said he would look into availability. We did not hear back from Eduardo. It took until my wife emailed him twice about the massages on January 12 & 13, and still no response. After using my email, we finally got him to respond.
Overall, spending so much time on both our vacations trying to deal with management to fix issues that should not be issues, made our vacations not as enjoyable as we would have liked. Management's compassion and follow-through are lacking. Both stays did not meet the high standards we have come to expect from Grand Solmar Lands End. We hope management will address these issues to restore the quality of service and accommodations we have enjoyed in the past.
The main reason I complain about is food.
Eating at Grand Solmar, no matter the restaurant, is like eating at McDonalds but paying for Michelin stars. With a lot of extra salt on everything!
It’s unacceptable! Poor food quality, no healthy choices, same menu for YEARS!! And again, a lot of salt on everything, probably to hide the bad taste.
We are a regular since this is the best location in Cabo, but I swear I can’t eat 90% of what they have in the menu.
To management: you run a beautiful property! Do something about the kitchen! Train your chefs or simply hire better ones!
I know you know what great steak is! You can’t call a piece of rubber steak, nor charge $50 for it.
Your headquarter is somewhere in California. I’m pretty sure you can consult a bistro menu in LA for more fine dining, more healthy and more creative choices.
Not all of us eat tacos, burritos, steak, burgers and fries all day every day.

I’m writing this as I’m chewing my salty fried rice. Thank you again for a lovely diner I can’t eat, yet I paid $75 for.
Rooms are spacious, well equipped, and very comfortable.
This year I was just a tad bit disappointed that I didn’t have my bathrobes like I have in previous years and that the wifi service and TV didn’t work great in the suite but I still love coming here to relax and get away from all life stresses. My favorite place to be, is by the pool (by Brisa’s restaurant) having cocktails. Especially during Happy Hour! This year I had a Cocktail called Viva Mexico and it was by far my favorite cocktail the whole week!!
I love that the staff, if ever given the opportunity, let you see the sea turtles hatch and be released to the ocean in a safe way for the animals and people visiting the resort. They also are good at watching the beach as you cannot get in the water due to the massive drop along the shoreline.
I cannot rave about this resort enough. It’s always something magical. ❤️
Then they take you out and say go with the actual ride your own resort has arranged.
Once you are in your own resort that you booked, they will come to pick you up and take you to this resort to sell timeshare and if you don't buy, they will become extremely rude.These scam artists need to be reported to the police.
Overall service was wonderful and their Thanksgiving party was excellent. Brandon went out of his way every night to take care of us. But the coffee in your room that you make yourself is also not included in the all inclusive package.
Beverage manager, who did call us back a while later and said a doctor would be up to see me in around 20-30 minutes. Well, he never showed and I never heard anything from management. Not only did it ruin the rest of my trip, but we paid to go fishing the next morning and I was out of that money too...several hundreds of dollars. At check out, I tried to get a managers card or leave a note and the lady at check out had no interest. Just collected my money for my horrible last 3 days. Beautiful place however, but was not impressed with management.
One more thing to note if you are taking the timeshare presentation. They give you a food and beverage coupon for $400 to buy for $140. But you can only apply this to actual food rather than taxes etc. so be careful as they don’t tell this upfront. This was our first timeshare presentation but felt like wasted 3hrs.
-There was no hot water! We had to run the facets for a few minutes before getting what was just lukewarm water! Total waste of water.
-The bed was uncomfortable and made squeaky noise.
By the way, when I complained about all that, they said they are fully booked and can't move me to another room. I think this was an excuse!
-I booked a private round trip ride from the airport to the resort (the picture showed a big van). Main reason was that I wanted a nice big car. Well, on the way back, the resort put us in the smallest taxi you could find and when I asked, they said it is a private ride and check your booking that says ride back to the airport is in a taxi!!
Having paid over $1000/night for this resort, I did not expect the above issues!
