Frequently Asked Questions

Upon landing at the Cancun international airport, and getting your luggage, you’ll be greeted with purple signs to Xcaret, in which you’ll be asked to sign-in, and wait for a few other travelers heading to the resort. You’ll then be invited to board the air conditioned bus that takes you to Hotel Xcaret Mexico.

The bus ride from the airport to the resort takes about 50 minutes. The bus itself has outlets to charge your phone, laptop, and other electronic devices. Once you get to the actual resort, you’ll be asked to go straight to the check-in line, and avoid the luggage traveling on the bottom of the bus, you’ll get this luggage, once you’re actually in your suite.

Once you’re in the check-in line, you’ll wait your turn to check in. Once it’s your turn at the registration counter, you’ll be given the option to upgrade your room(if available) at a discounted rate. You’ll also be assigned a concierge that will lead you through the hotel, to your room.

Once you’re in your hotel suite, your concierge will go over some valuable information with you in regards to the resort, and help answer any questions you may have. They’ll also help you plan an itinerary to get the best out of your visit. By this time, you should also be receiving the rest of your luggage, that was traveling with you on the bottom of the bus, from the airport ride.

The resort has over ten restaurants, most of which are free, with only one or two being paid. Since these are very popular all inclusive restaurants, they are always busy, so seating might be very limited, depending on the time of the year that you’re visiting. It’s strongly recommended to speak with your concierge to see if they can book you a reservation at any of the restaurants you want to try. Another alternative would be to enter “El Mercado”, which is a buffet style restaurant with plenty of delicious food and drinks.

Aside from great restaurants, the resort also includes free tours to experience the natural wonders of the region, such as Cenotes (natural underground caves with water), and taking tours to ancient Mayan ruins such as Cobal and Chichenitza.

In addition, the best thing about staying at Hotel Xcaret Mexico is that you have access to all of their adventure parks for free. These adventure parks, put Disneyland and Universal Studios to shame when it comes to fun and entertainment for the family. You’ll find everything from riding ATV’s and zip-lining through the jungle, to snorkeling and relaxing in the ocean. Most of these theme parks have all inclusive buffets included, and the food is without a doubt world class. You’ll find something for everyone.

While you’re there it is strongly recommended to go see the Hotel Xcaret Espectacular Show (which is also included with your stay at the resort). It’s a world class show that shares the overall story of Mexico, but it’s done in a very spectacular way. You’ll absolutely enjoy the show, which is about two hours long. Afterwards, just take the nice 10 minute boat ride, back to the resort.

The checkout process could take a while, so make sure you plan accordingly. Once you’re ready to check out of the hotel, you’ll first want to go to the registration counter where you had originally checked in, and sign the checkout document, this is in case you have any pending debts. Once you check out, you should be able to return to your room to pick up your luggage, and then board a bus to the airport. Make sure you inform yourself of the times the bus goes to and from the airport, so you don’t potentially miss your flight.

You’ll board the bus that heads back to the airport, where you’ll thank the Bus driver, and make your way through the airport gates, and head to your airline check in counter, and proceed with the rest of your trip.

My family and i were convinced to purchase tickets to the xcaret park at the airport when we arrived in mexico. The man explained a quick 90 minute session of breakfast and presentation before getting access to the park at a cheap price! We arrived at 10:30 and did not escape the nightmare until 2:30. the tour and food was great but the presentation of timeshare packages was SO long even when we said we weren’t interested MULITPLE time. we have to go through multiple lines just ti leave and it turns out our tickets were only for after 4pm which was never explained to us at all. When we wanted to leave, we still had to wait longer for someone to even take us back to the lobby. there was many kids crying of frustration and many angry people who had been there for more than 6 hours!! HORRIBLE

It is a beautiful place of peace, the food is very similar to that of other hotels in the area, the concept of being in the middle of nature is what makes the hotel spectacular, also with the proximity of Xcaret. It's great!!!!

For the price the hotel is not worth it.Most annoying concierge staff I have ever met. Don’t fall for their club membership! The first night we arrived it took 2 hours to get to our room. We arrived to the resort at 7. The concierge person took 2 hours explaining everything about the hotel and pushing us to do things we didn’t want too. He kept trying to convince us to join their membership. I kept telling him we were hungry and hadn’t had anything to eat. After two hours of him talking he finally took us to our room and tried to give us a tour of the room and I said no. We took a quick shower and went down to eat. We got lost for 20 minutes trying to find the cave restaurant. Once we found it was an 1.5 hour wait. We were hungry and decided to eat at the vegan restaurant because we felt like fainting! After we eat we decided to order room service which took another 1.5 hours. I order salmon and asparagus. The salmon tasted a little fishy and was obviously not fresh. The next morning we wanted to eat break at el Merced but we had said yes to listening to their presentation because they promised free massages. So we waited an hour so a member could take us to restaurant. Once we go to the restaurant the waitress said there wasn’t any tables inside ( she said this in Spanish). The worker we were with turned around and told us, “ there’s no available seats we have to go a different restaurant”. I looked at both a them and asked the waitress in Spanish if we could sit outside and she said yes. The worker was surprised that I spoke Spanish. It seemed like this worker for whatever reason didn’t want us to eat at the restaurant. I really wanted to eat at this breakfast location and the damn worker was trying to rush us so we could listen to the presentation! We finally said no so he made us walk all the way to concierge than concierge made us walk to the temple building to finally fill out paperwork stating we weren’t interested in the membership. He was obviously mad and didn’t even say anything to us and left. After that we decided to go swimming and have a relaxing day. After swimming I went to speak with the photographer to book our pictures. I was going back and forth to book photographer over email! THEY DO NOT RESPOND OVER EMAIL!!! I had to physically be in front of them to be able to book!We met with our photographer at 4:30 walked to the beach and took pictures. The photographer was great and took amazing pictures. My fiancé surprised me during the photo shot and proposed. After the photo shot we walked to La trajinera because he has booked a surprise engagement dinner at the beach which should’ve included a 5 course meal and champagne. Only to find out the concierge never communicated with restaurant! My fiancé was angry and the restaurant apologized but didn’t do much after. We asked for a refund but it took a couple of day for them to respond so we called out credit card company. We decided to eat at las Cuevas and while waiting the worker gave my fiancé a drink and told him in Spanish it had grapefruit and pomegranate which we can’t have those ingredients because we’re both allergic! The biggest issue about this hotel is their concierge workers. They have a disgusting attitude and need better training!!! I’ve been to Mexico many times and stayed a different resorts and this has never been issue. It seems like the workers really wanna push you to pay for extra excursions or activities. It was extremely annoying. This hotel was okay but every restaurant had a line even the buffet restaurant. We decided to leave a day early. While checking out they wanted to charge us for not showing up for the conzumel ferry ride. Which I never booked! There was not confirmation email. I told them I wasn’t paying for that!Be warned!! The concierge will try to take advantage of you especially if they think you don’t speak Spanish!Room service 10/10, the cleaners work so hard and leave the room clean!Restaurants 9/10 the food is delicious and the employees take their time explaining and asking about allergies!
