Our stay at here was as fantastic from start to finish. The entire hotel was exceptionally clean and well-kept, creating a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. The staff’s hospitality was outstanding, friendly, attentive, and always ready to help. We especially loved the environment right next to the waves, which made our stay even more relaxing. The resort’s decision to extend pool and bar hours was a great touch that kept us and other guests happy throughout the evening. With plenty of entertainment options, including good music and TV, The Fred offered the perfect blend of relaxation and enjoyment.
Staff was amazing. They accommodated every need and was extremely attentive. The area was beautiful and kept clean. Amazing views of the ocean and ported ships. The owner even extended pool and bar hours for the guests. The overall atmosphere of The Fred was the highlight of my entire vacation. Substandard, old, and a bit creepy....kinda like they tried to put a new bandaid over an old wound...no hot water, no on-site maintenance to resolve issues... tried to contact front desk several times, no help. I will say the outdoor bar/pool area was decent. Glad it was only 2 days.

We loved St. Croix! The Fred was okay, at best. The staff (mostly) was pleasant, but not extremely helpful. We were given misinformation on more than one occasion and complaints were not addressed. Rooms were clean, but towel racks fell off the wall, the shower flooded, television didn’t work, beach towels were ancient, and coffee was not replenished. The pool was very nice, as was the bar. Paula was an excellent bartender, but drinks were very expensive with prices changing daily.

One day into a four day stay, we complained and told the staff that we would be leaving the next day due to the problems. The next day the staff told us that the last two days would be refunded and we took off to another island and another hotel.
The Fred never refunded the last two nights, so we took a $1,000 hit to get out.
Don't make the same mistake I did.

My husband drinks non alcoholic beer so she made sure to have that . And Chip the General manager made it happen.. 😜 our cleaning Lady Valencia was amazing and really went above and beyond.. But everything else was down Hill 😢 We started our days with going down for ice and my husband always went in to get it. We did not inconvenience anyone! Until the last two mornings and the Bar guy was so very rude.. Told my husband he had things to do and couldn’t help him until after he got the Bar Setup. So my husband just had someone else help.. The Sand Castle Hotel down from the Fred saved our vacation.. They fed us .. We tried to do laundry at the Fred and they said no.. So Sand Castle let me do laundry while we were at the beautiful beach.. Dee Dee at the the Sand Castle we just fell in love with her and the beautiful team.. All the other employees at the Fred were always in Drama with who’s job was what.. Leaving to go home .. Back to Texas yay 😜

This is by far the best location to stay or just spend the day in all of St. Croix! The food is fantastic, the service is warm and friendly! The Fred is newer, clean and impeccably maintained. They are located directly on the beach with great views to sit and watch the surf. For a small fee, you can use the pool, the beach and kayaks. There was a great Caribbean music DJ. Our waitress, Wendy, was exceptional! If you are here with a cruise ship, The Fred is located within walking distance of the ships and you can skip any excursion fees! It truly has everything!
I was hesitant due to the mixed reviews. We stopped by here during our cruise, and it was a wonderful stop. Do not buy the day pass, it’s open to the public. We didn’t buy any food or drinks. We just enjoyed the beach and the facilities they had to offer, but it was a nice stop for the day. A quick 10 minute walk from the port. We actually went a few yards down from the beach closest to the Fred and it was less rocky. Consider water shoes. We didn’t necessarily need them, but I wouldn’t mind having them.
Ok location. Check in desk helpful. WiFi down. Only 1 tissue in box, obviously for show. Random shampoos/refilled bottles. Bar/restaurant ok, had to ask for breakfast as if doing a favor. Sat for 15 min to check out when desk clerk helped new visitors before me.
We had a rooftop party for an event and it was so beautiful. Really solid music, great food from the kitchen and incredible location.
Deserves a zero. Stay away from this miserable excuse for a restaurant. I had a miserable experience last March (2024) and decided to try again yesterday on March 1. Booked a reservation on their site and upon arrival they veered completely closed up….on a Saturday night in peak season! Things happen but why do they not even try to reach people who have reservations? Unbelievably poor customer service across the board is why. Nothing has changed at this miserable excuse for a hotel and restaurant. We can only hope they go out of business and a new owner and management team come on board. I live in Frederiksted and will be passing the word to unsuspecting visitors at every opportunity.
Shuttle did not show up at airport to picknus up despite getting email confirmation. I had to call and ask for a shuttle to be sent. When they tell you at checkin that there are no refunds if you decide to cancel/transfer elsewhere, you know you are in trouble. No response to multiple requests for fresh hand towels after bathroom flooded from clogged up shower drain and we used towels to dry up the floor. My husband cleaned out the shower drain and told them that he did. They did not seem to care. Work being done on stairs to beach every morning starting between 6:30-7am so woke up to sound of power tools. No place to rinse sand off feet at beach or by pool. Customer service does not exist at this place. I wanted to buy a tshirt in gift shop but they couldn't be bothered to look for one in boxes in storeroom. Say it is adult only but allow people to buy day passes and bring kids in to beach area and restaurant.
The staff were amazing, very attentive to everything and making sure we enjoyed our stay. I asked for a romance package and they came through! The hot tub was actually hot and very relaxing unlike other places with warm hot tubs. Highly recommend

Spent a week here in January 2025. This is a quaint hotel in a great location with respect to Frederiksted, great beaches, dining and hiking. We didn't need to rent a car as most things were walking distance. We took taxis a few times to go to Christiansted and hiking on the other end of the island.

This is a review of the on site restaurant beyond terrible service … gave it a try twice … so incredibly disappointing!!!! If it had a negative star that would be more appropriate!
We recently stayed at The Fred Hotel for 4 days and 3 nights, and we absolutely loved it. Our room was the James, an oceanfront suite. The room featured a very comfortable king-size bed, a safe for storing our electronics and passports, and unique, tasteful decorations throughout the suite. The mini living room area included a private balcony, perfect for sitting outside to enjoy the fresh air and stunning scenery. There was also a mini fridge stocked with complimentary drinks.
We had the chance to try some delicious food for lunch and dinner at The Fred Restaurant, conveniently located next to the bar and pool area and just a short walk from our room. My personal favorite appetizers were the chicken nachos at lunch and the fish tempura during dinner. For lunch, I highly recommend The Fred Burger or the tacos, and for dinner, the grilled salmon or red snapper are must-tries.

I hate to leave a bad review, but my experience at The Fred during festival was pretty bad. Was “greeted” so rudely at the front desk that it was almost comical. The very pregnant clerk did not smile or say a single word to me other than “sign here.” I live on island so I KNOW this isn’t how we treat people here. I hate that to be anyone’s first impression of stx. I arrive to my room, ready to go change/wash/hit the parade and alas - no towels! I had to use my scarf to dry my hands. I try calling the front desk multiple times, no answer. I walk down there and explain that I have no towels. She replies “I know. They will bring you some”. I probe for a when/how and get nothing. So I head to the parade as-is. Room has no closet, just a hook on the wall with hangers. There was no lotion or sunblock or bath mat. TV didn’t work. The corner of the bed was so sharp that I have a huge bruise on my leg now, days later. Feels like the level of service/room features you’d get at a 1-2 star hotel. WiFi code was illegible (no one was at the front desk when I tried to get help with this) and I couldn’t get solid service in my room so trying to connect with friends for the festivities was more stressful than needed. I also could hear everything in other rooms and outside of my room - making sleep tricky.
On the plus side, the views are lovely, the hotel ambiance and room itself were nice and AC was icy cool. The bathroom was huge and nice. The location of the hotel is also great for being able to walk to events in Fsted during festival. For the price point and rude service, I would not recommend and do not plan to stay again but maybe if you bring your own towels and get a good price, it is worth a look? Maybe my expectations were too high but I was taken aback by the basics this hotel was lacking.

The location and the views are amazing, however staff (bartenders) were not happy and spent time arguing about the workload and who was doing what. One even threatened to walk out. They ignored patrons, not at all welcoming or friendly even after a respectable tip. Very unfortunate. In addition, the deck outside has trash from the night before and only a couple of chaise lounges.
Been wanting to come here, finally got the chance! While on a day passing, I am so glad we did and will definitely come back. People are super friendly and accommodating. Food and drinks are good and prices are very reasonable for a pool and bar on the beach. Someone wrote this place is underrated, I would agree. Good vibes and music as well! We are here right before Christmas and the decorations are spot on!
I stayed at The Fred for several days recently again and it's my go-to resort without a doubt. The staff is amazing - food is great - and atmosphere is just what anyone looking to unwind deserves. There is always lots to do in the area - shopping, golf, different food options, water sports, beach bars, and more. Highly recommended - I will be back soon!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Fred! From the beautiful views, luxurious pool and hot tub, lively bar scene, spacious rooms, relaxing spa, and rainfall shower, the Fred has it all! The entertainment from the Moko Jumbies and fire dancers was a cool bonus! Would come back!
