Frequently Asked Questions

Upon landing at the Cancun international airport, and getting your luggage, you’ll be greeted with purple signs to Xcaret, in which you’ll be asked to sign-in, and wait for a few other travelers heading to the resort. You’ll then be invited to board the air conditioned bus that takes you to Hotel Xcaret Mexico.

The bus ride from the airport to the resort takes about 50 minutes. The bus itself has outlets to charge your phone, laptop, and other electronic devices. Once you get to the actual resort, you’ll be asked to go straight to the check-in line, and avoid the luggage traveling on the bottom of the bus, you’ll get this luggage, once you’re actually in your suite.

Once you’re in the check-in line, you’ll wait your turn to check in. Once it’s your turn at the registration counter, you’ll be given the option to upgrade your room(if available) at a discounted rate. You’ll also be assigned a concierge that will lead you through the hotel, to your room.

Once you’re in your hotel suite, your concierge will go over some valuable information with you in regards to the resort, and help answer any questions you may have. They’ll also help you plan an itinerary to get the best out of your visit. By this time, you should also be receiving the rest of your luggage, that was traveling with you on the bottom of the bus, from the airport ride.

The resort has over ten restaurants, most of which are free, with only one or two being paid. Since these are very popular all inclusive restaurants, they are always busy, so seating might be very limited, depending on the time of the year that you’re visiting. It’s strongly recommended to speak with your concierge to see if they can book you a reservation at any of the restaurants you want to try. Another alternative would be to enter “El Mercado”, which is a buffet style restaurant with plenty of delicious food and drinks.

Aside from great restaurants, the resort also includes free tours to experience the natural wonders of the region, such as Cenotes (natural underground caves with water), and taking tours to ancient Mayan ruins such as Cobal and Chichenitza.

In addition, the best thing about staying at Hotel Xcaret Mexico is that you have access to all of their adventure parks for free. These adventure parks, put Disneyland and Universal Studios to shame when it comes to fun and entertainment for the family. You’ll find everything from riding ATV’s and zip-lining through the jungle, to snorkeling and relaxing in the ocean. Most of these theme parks have all inclusive buffets included, and the food is without a doubt world class. You’ll find something for everyone.

While you’re there it is strongly recommended to go see the Hotel Xcaret Espectacular Show (which is also included with your stay at the resort). It’s a world class show that shares the overall story of Mexico, but it’s done in a very spectacular way. You’ll absolutely enjoy the show, which is about two hours long. Afterwards, just take the nice 10 minute boat ride, back to the resort.

The checkout process could take a while, so make sure you plan accordingly. Once you’re ready to check out of the hotel, you’ll first want to go to the registration counter where you had originally checked in, and sign the checkout document, this is in case you have any pending debts. Once you check out, you should be able to return to your room to pick up your luggage, and then board a bus to the airport. Make sure you inform yourself of the times the bus goes to and from the airport, so you don’t potentially miss your flight.

You’ll board the bus that heads back to the airport, where you’ll thank the Bus driver, and make your way through the airport gates, and head to your airline check in counter, and proceed with the rest of your trip.

Our stay at Hotel Xcaret México was nothing short of incredible! From the moment we arrived, the service was top-notch—every staff member we encountered was friendly, attentive, and genuinely seemed to care about making our stay unforgettable. The food was a true highlight—every restaurant offered something different and delicious, with high-quality ingredients and beautiful presentation. Whether it was breakfast by the water or a fine dining experience in the evening, every meal exceeded our expectations. The All-Fun Inclusive package is absolutely worth it. Access to all the Xcaret parks added so much value to our trip—each one offered unique and exciting adventures, from exploring caves and rivers to seeing wildlife and enjoying cultural shows. It’s an unbeatable experience that makes this hotel stand out.The only downside was the timeshare meeting we were asked to attend. It was quite long and felt a bit too pushy, which slightly took away from the otherwise relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere.Still, that one issue wasn’t enough to take away from the amazing time we had. We’ll definitely be back—and we’ll skip the meeting next time!

Pros: Beautiful property. Pools and facilities are well kept and everything is clean and in good condition.Access to parks and free shuttle transport to everywhere you need to go. This is a great part of the all inclusive package and the logistics around it are timely and reliable.Cons: All of the cons are within the context of this being a $1000+ per night resort. Room service consistently takes 1-2 hours to show up and sometimes they don’t show up altogether. Had to call back after waiting an hour multiple times to remind them / check in on status. Particularly frustrating as we would call to have milk delivered for our toddler. You can’t speak to concierge without being sold a timeshare which is pretty ridiculous for any resort but particularly one this costly. Many restaurants on the property are not included and require additional payment. Somewhat deceiving to market something as an all inclusive resort with X number of restaurants (but you only have access to some). If you’re really into the Xcaret parks and plan on spending multiple days visiting them, this resort is still worth considering. For those who are not, there’s way better options out there.

We were there last year and without a doubt it was amazing! an incredible hotel and staff. Everything was amazing. On our checkout 2 employees approached us,they offer a discount for us to be back.(never mention it was a timeshare or that we have to join a 90 minute presentation) they told us it was gonna be the same that we got that time so without a doubt, we accept it and pay for it in full. We come back last week and to our surprise they had a one bedroom with one bed for three adults and two kids obviously that’s not what we pay for so after looking for about an hour, they found a room with two beds, but we had to pay an extra $1100. Obviously we did not accept it because we made the reservation nine months in advance and we paid for the extra adult. We had to wait more time and he spoke with the supervisor and miraculously he found a room with two beds as we had requested since booking nine months ago. But keep in mind check is at four. We got there at six. We finally got our room at 8 PM. We attend the presentation the next day in which the employees from the timeshare are very very, very, very persistent after we told him since the beginning that we’re not interested they kept trying and pushing it and pushing. Finally, they got that we were not interested at all so they let us go.Sadly, the service was not the same. Even to pick up the call from room service they were taking a very long time even several calls had to be made so they would answer. This makes me think that they have a group chat in which they communicate among the employees about who gets the timeshare and who doesn’t because after you do not get the time share, they do not care to provide anymore. A Good customer service. So it’s a shame that’s such a beautiful place, hotel and location won’t make you go back because they’re only interested in first time visitors or clients or expected timeshare buyers, because only then you will get the exceptional service.

A Decade in the Making — and 100% Worth ItHotel Xcaret Mexico had been on our travel list for over 10 years, and we finally made it — thanks to a generous discount from a friend who’s a member. Full disclosure: I travel often and typically avoid all-inclusive resorts and buffet-style dining like they’re airport food. But this place? It’s a complete game-changer.Every restaurant on the property was a standout — offering traditional, regional cuisine that was not only beautifully presented but genuinely exquisite. The seafood restaurant in particular was a highlight: fresh ingredients, elevated flavors, and top-shelf Tequila and Mezcal that made us feel like royalty without the robe.Service was flawless — a true 10/10. I could ask questions and make requests just using WhatsApp, and within minutes, someone was on it. Efficient, friendly, and thoughtful in a way that never felt forced. We were so impressed, we became members before we even checked out. Already booked our return trip for May 2025. That should tell you everything.

Worst Value for Money – Very DisappointedI stayed at Hotel Xcaret and left feeling completely let down. For a price of around $1400 per night, you'd expect exceptional service and quality — unfortunately, this hotel delivers neither. The rooms are poorly maintained and far from what you’d expect at this price point. They advertise 24/7 room service as part of the all-inclusive package, but good luck actually getting anything delivered. Most of my requests were ignored or simply never arrived. If you’re hoping for a peaceful, relaxing stay — forget it. The hotel hosts loud, disruptive shows late into the evening, making it nearly impossible to sleep, even if you're in your room trying to rest.Honestly, for $300 a night, this place might be considered decent, but for what they’re charging, it’s an absolute joke. I feel cheated and genuinely want my money back.

I have to say that this was one of the beautiful resort to be especially during the Day of the Dead festival. It was one for the books and a well themed resort I've been so far.The hotel was not cheap I should say, we decided to stay for 8 days to experience all their fun inclusive activities staying in their hotel. The restaurants and the food. I can give it a 3. 5 star ratings for the reason that I'm not a local. The food heavily leaned more on Mexican food. I do understand that they run with a theme. The option for a variety (for International offerings) was so scarce and 8 day stay was just turned out boring and tiring for us. But I have to give credit for the quality of the food they served.Service and amenities were definitely 4 stars. The resort was beautiful but what makes it special were the fabulous staffs you meet especially in the restaurant. Our housekeeper was by rotation I guess, and notes we left for request was amiss most of the time so we ended up calling for requests.I also have to give you a heads up about alcoholic drinks in room. You won't get it except for local beers in the fridge that they stocked up everyday. For Cocktails or hard drinks you need to go to the bars. It was one of the downside if you've experience a different kind of set up with other resorts, which was the case for us.Entertainment was close to nothing. After 6 pm, the entertainment you can get were from the restaurants who played live music while dining. There's a restaurant that becomes a club after 11 but not much fun.Pretty much the stay was worth it because the whole place was breathtaking with the Fun Inclusive activities they offer. If you are not a local, once is enough considering the price for staying was beyond our usual budget for even an all inclusive unless you'll fall for the time share which they will aggressively offer the moment you checked in. You just have to be firm and resolute. Other than that, it was still a fun and unique vacation experience we had.

The hotel itself is amazing. Food is incredible as well as the rooms. Be warned though, if you have more than 1 room booked you will not be close to each other. We had 5 rooms and they placed us in different buildings and being this is a large hotel, it was very inconvenient. We complained to the front desk and were told there was nothing they could do as it was all based on availability. I was given this same answer when I complained to guest services after we returned home. Really guys?? You can’t figure out what every other resort has managed to do? Of course it’s based on availability but with a little bit of planning and foresight you can make this happen. Surprisingly poor excuse by an otherwise really great hotel. Figure it out guys!

Hotel Xcaret Mexico is an outstanding resort and a wonderful option for those with families. The facility is clean, safe, stunningly beautiful and the staff is wonderful. The food options are plentiful and the food was great! (some sit-down options require reservations btw) and the buffet options are great for quick meals. The pools are outstanding and the river is fun to explore as a family. For adults, the pool-side bars are excellent. It's hard to overstate how great it is to have the 3 park options 10 minutes away by free shuttle. Absolutely wonderful. And Xel-Ha is an hour away and worth the shuttle ride. Two minor "watch outs" for those with young children (under 12 for example):1. The rooms can be a bit noisy. The doors are heavy but aren't "quiet close" - they slam easily and loudly, and the hallways echo. So for children that go to bed early, there is a lot of noise from the hours of 9-11 as people wander, return from dinner, etc. And vice versa - hallway noise, door slamming, etc. starts again early.2. There aren't really evening activities for kids who aren't teenagers and who can go to the "Kids Club" or whatever.

Absolutely Horrendous Experience - A Complete Disaster of a Resort!I am currently staying at Xcaret Hotel until Thursday, and I can confidently say this is the WORST vacation experience I have ever had. From the moment we arrived, everything has been a nightmare. We paid for upgraded rooms and were assured they would be side by side.Instead, upon arrival, we were told the rooms weren't ready, and we were forced to take rooms on different floors, completely separating our family— unacceptable, especially when traveling with kids.To make matters worse, our kids' room had an overwhelming, unbearable chemical gas stench coming from the washroom toilet. The smell was so intense it was dangerous to breathe in, making the room unlivable. After complaining, the hotel admitted they had been doing repairs while we were out on an excursion. The solution?Moving us to a smaller, less desirable garden-view room at the farthest possible location-a complete downgrade instead of a fix!The hotel is a complete mess, disorganized, unprofessional, and lacking any proper customer service. The front desk staff? Completely useless, rude, and unhelpful. They don't care about guests, and they certainly don't care about fixing their mistakes.I am beyond furious, frustrated, and disgusted by the treatment we have received. This place is NOT worth the money, and I would never recommend it to anyone. We expected a luxury experience, and instead, we've been given a chaotic disaster of a stay.

I am absolutely outraged by the way your company is handling transportation services, and I feel completely misled by the information provided on your website. It clearly states that your shuttle service picks up guests from various locations in the city, yet we were just informed that we can only use the company bus if our flight is on the same day as our pickup. This is utterly ridiculous and totally unfair. We paid for our stay just like any other guest, and we made the decision to spend a week in Cancun before heading to Xcaret. Now, because of that decision, we are being penalized. We tried to contact your company multiple times via phone and WhatsApp, waiting for hours and spending days trying to get in touch, only to be told that the shuttle is only for guests with flights on the same day. This is absolutely unacceptable!Additionally, we were informed that taking a taxi to your hotel would cost us 2,000 Mexican pesos. Given that this situation is entirely your fault, I would like to know if you will reimburse us for this expense.I am deeply disappointed, and frankly, I am starting to question the integrity of your company. I am afraid that this is just the beginning of a string of lies and broken promises. The way we’ve been treated so far is appalling, and I am seriously concerned about the rest of our experience at your hotel. This situation needs to be addressed immediately. I demand an explanation and an acceptable solution. We expected a much higher level of service, and this has been nothing short of a nightmare.
