No, we can secure you a very competitive quote to Hotel Xcaret Mexico, without the need to attend any presentation.

Upon landing at the Cancun international airport, and getting your luggage, you’ll be greeted with purple signs to Xcaret, in which you’ll be asked to sign-in, and wait for a few other travelers heading to the resort. You’ll then be invited to board the air conditioned bus that takes you to Hotel Xcaret Mexico.

The bus ride from the airport to the resort takes about 50 minutes. The bus itself has outlets to charge your phone, laptop, and other electronic devices. Once you get to the actual resort, you’ll be asked to go straight to the check-in line, and avoid the luggage traveling on the bottom of the bus, you’ll get this luggage, once you’re actually in your suite.

Once you’re in the check-in line, you’ll wait your turn to check in. Once it’s your turn at the registration counter, you’ll be given the option to upgrade your room(if available) at a discounted rate. You’ll also be assigned a concierge that will lead you through the hotel, to your room.

Once you’re in your hotel suite, your concierge will go over some valuable information with you in regards to the resort, and help answer any questions you may have. They’ll also help you plan an itinerary to get the best out of your visit. By this time, you should also be receiving the rest of your luggage, that was traveling with you on the bottom of the bus, from the airport ride.

The resort has over ten restaurants, most of which are free, with only one or two being paid. Since these are very popular all inclusive restaurants, they are always busy, so seating might be very limited, depending on the time of the year that you’re visiting. It’s strongly recommended to speak with your concierge to see if they can book you a reservation at any of the restaurants you want to try. Another alternative would be to enter “El Mercado”, which is a buffet style restaurant with plenty of delicious food and drinks.

Aside from great restaurants, the resort also includes free tours to experience the natural wonders of the region, such as Cenotes (natural underground caves with water), and taking tours to ancient Mayan ruins such as Cobal and Chichenitza.

In addition, the best thing about staying at Hotel Xcaret Mexico is that you have access to all of their adventure parks for free. These adventure parks, put Disneyland and Universal Studios to shame when it comes to fun and entertainment for the family. You’ll find everything from riding ATV’s and zip-lining through the jungle, to snorkeling and relaxing in the ocean. Most of these theme parks have all inclusive buffets included, and the food is without a doubt world class. You’ll find something for everyone.

While you’re there it is strongly recommended to go see the Hotel Xcaret Espectacular Show (which is also included with your stay at the resort). It’s a world class show that shares the overall story of Mexico, but it’s done in a very spectacular way. You’ll absolutely enjoy the show, which is about two hours long. Afterwards, just take the nice 10 minute boat ride, back to the resort.

The checkout process could take a while, so make sure you plan accordingly. Once you’re ready to check out of the hotel, you’ll first want to go to the registration counter where you had originally checked in, and sign the checkout document, this is in case you have any pending debts. Once you check out, you should be able to return to your room to pick up your luggage, and then board a bus to the airport. Make sure you inform yourself of the times the bus goes to and from the airport, so you don’t potentially miss your flight.

You’ll board the bus that heads back to the airport, where you’ll thank the Bus driver, and make your way through the airport gates, and head to your airline check in counter, and proceed with the rest of your trip.

This is our third stay at Xcaret. The first two stays in 2019 and 2021 were lovely. This time was a mess.

We were placed in Phase 2 of the resort despite never requesting it. We didn't even know there was a Phase 2 . The website and app have no information on it. It's basically doubled their capacity, but they are not ready for double the service needs.

Check-in took over an hour, and we had to insist on being helped by available agents on the “check-out” side. Checkout also took an hour, during which we were charged a no-show fee for a Teatro del Rio reservation we never made.

Regarding experiences, I submitted the request form five weeks prior to arrival with no acknowledgment or follow-up from the hotel. I emailed and called multiple times with no response until someone in reservations finally forwarded my call. I called reservations because I knew someone would answer. At that point, I was told I was too late to make reservations (I wasn't too late, they just never handled my request sent five weeks earlier)—yet I was still charged for Teatro del Rio. It took 30 minutes to resolve that, and we nearly missed our airport transfer as a result. The insisted I prove we didn't make the reservation. I had to dig through all my emails to show them their team had been unresponsive.

It’s clear that Phase 2 is not ready for guests. No department answers the phone. Room service took 2.5 hours, and I had to walk to the front desk (10 min walk) just to confirm they had received the order—who, in turn, couldn’t reach room service either. Housekeeping missed entire days, left us without towels or shower gel, and took 36 hours to deliver linens for the sofa bed. There was no replenishment of water or snacks unless I chased down someone with a cart in the hallways. I resorted to taking water and snacks from the gym or restaurant.

The biggest issue was the complete lack of responsiveness. No sense of urgency. For the rate we paid, we expected a far higher level of service. Frankly, I’ve received better service at hotels charging $200 a night. This experience was extremely disappointing—especially given our prior positive stays.

Our patio was unusable due to mosquito swarms. We asked at least a dozen times for help, and no one came. This outdoor space was a key part of what we paid for, yet we couldn’t enjoy it. My daughter had over 50 bites. I have 30.

The in-room Apple TV/streaming didn’t work. IT service eventually came, but the update took eight hours during which the TV was completely inoperable.

Signage throughout the property is poor, and Phase 2 is not represented on the hotel's website or app. There was no way to find basic information, and the concierge, front desk, and guest services were of no help. No management presence was felt anywhere.

This stay was a complete waste of money. I will not return, and I will advise others to avoid it as well. I’ve worked in the hotel industry for over 25 years for top luxury brands. I know what excellence looks like. The opening of Phase 2, the lack of marketing, and the utter failure in service delivery are unacceptable—especially at $1,500 per night.

The new Xcaret compound (Xcaret 2) is a complete joke. It is fully under construction so I’m not sure why they opened it to guests. We have raved about this hotel but no more, we will never recommend it again.

Property and Rooms: The outside is a construction zone. There is scaffolding everywhere and construction tape. The rooms are problematic as well, the room lights kept turning on in 30min intervals through the night. The technician could not fix it so my husband had to move rooms at 3:30AM at night.

Restaurants: The food and service at La Silla needs to be worked on- it is far below standards. The steak served was extremely overcooked (completely gray, not a hint of pink remaining). The best thing was their avocado appetizer. The staff broke the glass bottles TWICE, and the second one the left on the ground for over 30min. One staff member tripped on apiece and simply picked the piece with his bare hand and threw it back to a pile on the ground. These are that staff should be trained to handle properly. I haven’t experienced this at the other “original” compound.

The management’s handling of these issues is nonchalant and incompetent. One of the managers didn’t even show up to meet at the lobby at the time arranged. Later on they wanted to arrange a meeting at our room at 12AM (we have two young kids fast asleep)!

This was our third time returning and will be our last. You grossly overpay for what you get. Everything has gone downhill.

—————

EDITED: After speaking with Maia from the management team at Xcaret Hotel 1, they offered a solution to rectify our stay. I have changed the star rating as a result, which is in between my original and current rating of the hotel.

However, my opinion on the Phase 2 section still stands and it is my hope they can bring it up to the standards of the original hotel compound.

Still under construction. Overbooked. 3 hours to check in. 1 hour wait at restaurants. Room temp gets down to 75 minimum. 1.5 hour wait for room service if you order online because there is no answer. No answer at front desk. Could be a very cool place but we are not happy with our stay. For $1000 per night, we were expecting at least decent service and air conditioning that works. We’re going back to the Hyatt Ziva next year.

Currently staying in the new section of Hotel Xcaret. The hotel is beautiful, the grounds are stunning, and the rooms are stylish. You can tell a lot of thought went into creating a unique experience.

That said, a few things are off. The phones in the rooms don’t work, which makes it impossible to call housekeeping, the front desk, or get assistance—other than room service, which is spotty. For a hotel in this price range, that kind of basic functionality really matters.

Also worth noting: the room layout is a bit unusual. The bathroom is open concept with no dividing wall, which might not be ideal for everyone—especially if you’re not traveling as a couple.

Overall, it’s a great property, but they need to pay more attention to the details that actually make a stay smooth and comfortable.

Pros: The resort is stunning. We actually enjoyed the resort just as much as the parks. The food is solid. Ha restaurant was amazing.

Cons: check in was awful, takes way too long.

the new construction area is just a noise polluted eye sore. If you get a room in that area, be prepared to be woken up at 8am to banging.

The room service never came, no one ever answers the phone.

Plan to wait an hour + for a sit down restaurant at dinner time after 7pm.

Overall, for what you pay, the value just isn't there. They basically doubled the number of rooms with the expansion but were not prepared to accommodate the influx. We still enjoyed the vacation but will not be returning.

To preface, my rating is not due to the staff, who were incredibly kind and helpful throughout our entire trip. The management is to blame for not planning correctly. My experience here began with a 2 hour long wait at the check-in desk. After check-in, we were brought to our room. At our room, we we were told we were unable to use the pool right outside of our room, which we paid extra to have, due to construction scaffolding being around the area. The owners or management of the hotel opened the part of the hotel we were staying in far too early. Also in the room, our mini at was only ever stocked once. Water was provided that time, which was necessary for the humidity in the area. After, we would have to consistently ask for the minibar to be refilled, which was never done ever again during our stay. Also, there were water slides which we weren't able to use until our last day of our stay. While I overall enjoyed my experience, the issues don't make me want to return to this hotel on my next visit even with the area hopefully being repaired in that time.

If you are an American family do not come here. Racism, theft, and hate from staff. Where do I begin??? At arrival my daughter’s backpack was loaded onto the luggage cart. It never arrived, I went to concierge daily for any kind of help only to deal with cover up from the theft and playing dumb.
Allen who is pictured in this review was the nastiest of the staff. He mocked an English family whom was in line before me about an issue their daughter was having than when I asked him about getting some help his response was “what do you want me to do about it “ you could feel his hatred toward my race in his tone and delivery.
The food was absolutely terrible, i have never had such disgusting Mexican food in my life. Even my kids would leave their first plate full. It was damn near impossible to find any water on the premises and room service would not answer the phone 90 percent of the time. When they would answer they would take the order and never arrive.
Evelyn the night supervisor whom we found helpful on day 4 or 5 helped us with water and towels, she was helpful but Jose the day supervisor never even acted interested in helping recover my daughters backpack and belongings that they stole from us.

If you are an American keep your family and your bank account safe by avoiding this atrocity of a “resort”. I had to wait to leave this review til safely at the airport to ensure we weren’t targeted even more than we had already been.

Hotel Mexico is the best resort that we have ever seen.l or stayed in for our business trip. The Bars and restaurants are amazing. The only problem we ran into was the leak in our bathroom which no one came to fix. We called them several times and no one bothered to show up. Secondly, no one picks up the phone for room service whatsoever. This is crazy. We called over 6 times to ask for water and they keep saying that they are on their way and never send anyone. We paid $8000 for this trip and they can’t fix a simple customer service issue? Note to others: once you check into this hotel, you’re on your own. Front desk phone rarely gets picked up.

This was the most amazingly beautiful resort we have ever been to! Cannot be compared to any other all inclusive. No detail is missed in design and decor and landscaping. Every pool is special and different. The lagoon flows through the resort, lots of beach areas, caves and unique swimming. Visually stunning. Great service and lots of top notch dining options. I would recommend to anyone and can't wait to return.

We stayed at Hotel Xcaret from January 12–22, 2025, expecting the same exceptional experience we had on our last visit. Instead, we left deeply disappointed, disillusioned, and completely ignored by management. For a resort that positions itself in the luxury bracket, this stay was nothing short of unacceptable.

Construction Disrupted Our Holiday

For 8 out of our 10 days, the Octopus Pool—one of the key attractions—was rendered useless due to ongoing construction. Loud, persistent noise from building works shattered the peace we were hoping for. No prior warning was given, no apology offered, and no alternative arrangements made. At this price point, guests should not be subject to such disruption, and certainly not without being informed or compensated.

Unacceptable Room Conditions

Our room had multiple maintenance issues:

A minibar cupboard door that literally fell off, A broken and leaking handheld showerhead, Other persistent faults that added daily frustration. This isn’t just disappointing—it’s substandard for a hotel of this caliber.

Disturbing Camera/Bracelet Malfunctions

The bracelet-linked camera system, once a highlight of our stay, was erratic and at times intrusive:

Sometimes it failed to register photos at all, Other times it captured images we didn’t expect, Alarmingly, we were shown private photos of other guests.

This is not only a privacy violation but also a clear sign of poor technical oversight. Again, not what you expect from a luxury resort.

Total Silence from Hotel Management

I sent a formal complaint immediately after our stay and followed up several times via email. No response. No acknowledgment. No investigation. For a hotel that charges premium rates, this is appalling. At the very least, we expected a respectful reply and a meaningful resolution—whether a partial refund, credit for a future stay, or a genuine apology. Instead, we were met with indifference.

Final Thoughts

At this price point, none of these issues should have happened. But when they did, Hotel Xcaret had a duty to investigate and respond with care. They failed on both counts.

What was once a magical destination has now become a cautionary tale. We will not return—and if you value service, peace, and accountability, you may want to reconsider before booking.
