What Do People Think About Staying At The Hotel Riu Plaza Guadalajara?
This supposed 5 star hotel has the absolute worst elevator system I have ever encountered.First off, half of the elevators go to certain floors and the other half go to other floors. In other words, not all the elevators go to the floor you want to go to. This means that sometimes you have to take an elevator to a floor, cross over to the next elevator, to then take that to the your final destination.Secondly, there is a key card system that only allows you to go to certain floors on the elevator. You have to swipe your card before you press the floor button. Most of the time, the key card doesn't work.I've watched so many people struggle with going up and down the elevator. What a ridiculous problem to have at a 5 star hotel.
I only went to the rooftop for snacks and cocktails. The attention to detail in the craft drinks are unbeatable. Very work the 150 pesos it cost to arrive to the 42floor where you have 360 views of the city.
I recently stayed at the Riu Hotel in Guadalajara, expecting a five-star experience, but was severely disappointed. Despite the hotel's luxurious claims, they failed to provide basic necessities.Firstly, there was no soap or moisturizer in the bathroom. I was shocked to discover that I had to pay extra for these essential items! This is unacceptable for a hotel that advertises itself as a five-star establishment.To make matters worse, even a pair of carpet slippers—something that should be standard in a luxury hotel—was only provided upon payment. It's absurd to charge guests for such basic amenities.The management needs to address these issues immediately. Until then, I would not recommend staying here. There are far better options in Guadalajara that actually deliver on their promises.
My opinion is specifically about the Rooftop.On Friday, January 7, I went to the Rooftop, they charged me $300 pesos for entry, when in reality the price is $150. I didn't realize it until the next day when I checked my movements. When I entered my PIN, I didn't see the amount, since I trusted that they are trained to make the charge as it should be. It is worth mentioning that I arrived alone, so the charge should have been for a single entry. I already made a request to follow up on my matter via email and to this day I have not received a response.The place is divine, it has a spectacular view, the prepared drinks are delicious, the attention of most of the staff was quite friendly, there was only one person (a woman) who was very despotic, we called her because the waitress who was assigned to our table was quite busy, when we called her she acted like she didn't see us or told us she would come right away and she never did, our waitress was busy, it would be great if they trained their staff and let them know that they are a TEAM, that even if it is not their table they support their colleagues.The place is very clean, very quiet, comfortable and you can take spectacular photos.The price of valet parking is very high.It is definitely a place I would return to, I will give it a second chance but, it would be great if they follow up on my issue and take this as an area for improvement.
A lovely place to stay for a few days while in the city. We felt was walkable to near by Barrios to explore food eats. The staff was very friendly and patient with our poor spanish. We enjoyed the roof top bar and views from our room.

Terrible service from Mimbre at reception, 20 minutes on the phone line for him to give me an email, neither the phone nor the management email nor anything had the attention to give me or send me to someone who would give me the attention that I deserve later of spending more than 20 thousand pesos to stay in your HOTEL, terrible service.
Although the room is very spacious, the beds are very uncomfortable and the pillows look like toys. The view from the top floor bar is INCREDIBLE. But check-out at 12? The buffet is rich and complete
Every year, we leave Quebec by car to go to Nuevo Nayarit, Mexico, west coast. Our last stop before arriving at our destination is the Riu de Guadalajara. It's a great place to finally end or almost end a very long journey. This hotel is beautiful, warm and all the services are excellent.
The Riu property in Guadalajara is beautiful, comfortable, and convenient. Over the past 18 months, we’ve stayed here four times (3-5 days each visit), and our experience has been consistently wonderful. We appreciate the smooth check-in, spacious and quiet rooms, as well as the excellent bars and restaurants. During our recent stay over the Veterans Day Holiday, we booked two rooms and had a fantastic time. We especially enjoyed the buffet restaurant, the Dreams bar, and lunch on the main floor. The Rooftop 360 bar was a real highlight—what a view! The panoramic city views were breathtaking, and the staff was friendly and attentive. Special mention goes to Nicole, the hostess, who went out of her way to make our experience memorable. The DJ was also fantastic, playing a great mix of music for everyone.The breakfast buffet is a bit pricey, but absolutely worth it, featuring fresh omelets, made-to-order tortillas, and a wide array of pastries and fruits.I do have two minor suggestions for improvement related to one of our rooms. The shower water temperature was difficult to regulate despite our efforts, and one of the toilets didn’t flush properly. Since we had opted out of daily housekeeping, we managed, but I mention these issues in hopes they can be addressed for future guests (also shared this with the front desk).
We stayed on the 9th floor, unfortunately we had a VERY BAD experience with the room we had, right on the floor and on the side where we were they were working on the outside (they started very early and all day welding and hitting) unfortunately we had already paid for 5 days and it was not possible for us to make any room changes, the rooms had much to be desired, very old.The service on the other hand in the restaurant is good and the food too, the view was beautiful but unfortunately we couldn't rest 😔
The location is good, I didn’t like the check in ‘cause it took a lot of time though.The infrastructure is nice it was brand-new, high with good views of the city.The personal service is attentive, the bedroom is amazing because is small with good ventilation, it is nice very small. The food was just delicious and it has a good variety of drinks.The pool is amazing, quite clean
This place looks like 2003 threw up all over it. Lol. Modern but very dated decor. It's got a busy, happening lobby. The bar is almost always busy. The breakfast buffet is fire. The room is spacious but also dated. The beds are ok.
Beautiful hotel, but over 20 minutes ride from the airport. The elevator kept stalling and they didn't clean the rooms daily. We had to ask and they still didn't come or bring the extra blanket we called for twice. We waited until the next day for service. The room was gorgeous and the view breathtaking but you definitely need someone with you who speaks Spanish. None of the hotel workers spoke English, except the guy in the coffee shop. If you don't get a rental car you will need to take Uber or taxi everywhere. They have taxis outside waiting but people we know got robbed by both Uber and the taxi so just be vigilant. The breakfast provided is an extra cost. Overall, I had a safe trip, the city is beautiful but the hotel gets 3 stars! Specifically, because of the daily elevator problems and for locking us out of our room and wifi. Looks isn't everything, it's the service. Expensive hotel with mediocre service, long wait times and bad communication.
Overall the hotel is nice and clean, rooms where spacious, was able to check in a little earlier, elevators sometimes took a while but not always. The staff was helpful, the buffet breakfast also had good selection. Pool area and service was also great.
Currently in the lobby waiting for a room after we received a email confirmation that our room was ready at 9am called to confirm spoke to Emma I think her name was and she confirmed. Once again Monica the lady in the front desk with the worst attitude is refusing to give us our rooms. She really needs some type of customer care course or something seems like she hates her job. You definitely need to keep her away from customers. We came from a 9 hour flight and while waiting for our room my cousin was dosing off and a worker came and told him he better not fall asleep. I can’t believe our experience here. The start of our vacation tainted
