What Do People Think About Staying At The Ava Resort in Cancun?

The whole vibe is relaxed and elevated. It's beautifully designed but never feels pretentious. The staff was kind, attentive, and genuinely seemed to care that we were having a great time. Little touches, like remembering our preferences or offering thoughtful suggestions, made a big difference.
There was plenty to do, but we never felt overwhelmed. We loved the variety from peaceful mornings by the saltwater lagoon to amazing food and spontaneous entertainment at night. One evening we found ourselves at a pop-up culinary event that ended up being one of the highlights.
Whether you're with family, your partner, or friends, AVA makes it easy to unwind and feel welcome. We’re already thinking about when we can come back.
I have 2 constructive comments:
1. Our room (S675) was at the extreme end of the South Tower. While we did see the ocean from our balcony, we also saw and smelled the seaweed and construction activities, which h are not pleasant. I recommend either reducing cost of room rate for this area of AVA or informing guest ahead of the exact view. Requesting travel agent to book your rooms in North Tower or South Tower closer to Lobby is also another option.
2. As we were vacationing with our 3 grown children, their spouses, and our grandchildren, all the children's activities are in the North Tower, and it would have been beneficial to all being together in the North Tower. Walking each day from the end of the South Tower to the North Tower (3/5 mile) was A LOT of walking.
We had the most amazing experience at Ava Cancun, and it was all thanks to the incredible staff who went above and beyond at every turn.
The Legendary Pool Staff—Jorge, Omar, and Jeremy—were phenomenal. Their energy, friendliness, and constant attentiveness made our pool days unforgettable. One special moment was when they surprised our bride-to-be with a custom sand-written towel message—it was such a thoughtful and fun touch that meant so much to us!
Christian at Member Services was also a standout. He made our stay stress-free by helping us arrange day passes to Hard Rock Cancun and securing dinner reservations. His professionalism and kindness really stood out.
At the South Buffet, the Omelet Maker greeted us each morning with our usual order already in the works. That level of personalized service made us feel truly valued.
We also loved the water aerobics instructor at the Legendary Pool—she brought so much charisma and energy that we actually looked forward to working out!
Marlene at the Italian restaurant gave us exceptional service and made our dinner one of the most enjoyable of the trip.
Lastly, a big thank-you to the South breakfast buffet wait staff, who were incredibly accommodating for one of our guests with food allergies. Their attentiveness and care were truly appreciated.
Ava Cancun is beautiful, but it’s the amazing staff that made our trip so unforgettable. We can’t wait to come back!
One of the most memorable aspects for us was the care and attention given to our little one at AVA Kids. The team welcomed him with such warmth, love, and genuine kindness. He absolutely loved the engaging activities and had such a great time that he didn’t want to leave—he wanted to spend his entire day there!
As parents, it was heartwarming and reassuring to see him so happy and well cared for. The overall experience exceeded our expectations.
We had an amazing time at AVA Resort in Cancun. The hotel is beautiful, clean, and right on a gorgeous beach. Our room was super comfortable with a great view. The food was delicious with lots of options, and the staff were always friendly and helpful. There were plenty of fun things to do, or you could just relax by the pool. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back!
A special shoutout to our concierge, Mary, who truly made our vacation unforgettable. She was incredibly attentive, helpful, and always went the extra mile to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. Her personal touch really elevated our stay.

Food court 24×7 was amazing and has great quality in each and every item you pick, from coffees to margaritas.
Lunches by the pool, hot pools by the extreme south and north ends of the hoteld are marvelous.
Wings, mac n cheese , pizza with soft and hard drinks until 6pm.
And fancy restaurant serving lunch by pool that doesnt require fancy attire to dine by the pool is awesome.
People are so friendly and appreciate even 1$ tip,, doesnt mean you only give a 1$, but just saying...!
Restaurants that you would book for the night are not all that awesome but they are decent and good quality dine-in experience.
Minami, Veranda italian are good.
Night pub within the south tower shouldnt be missed !
Front desk is very helpful and they have 24x7 visitor services.
Room service available if you want to stay in your room and dine in.
Size of swim pool is about 3 miles long...and has opportunity for kids to experience kayaking for no extra fees in the pool.
Restrooms are super clean and modern, very nicely maintained.
Spa is good too but i do not recommend as the therapists that i attended was ok.
I highly recommend hair salon, they did a great job hair wash, blow dry and styling on the last date night of our vacation period. Five star !
Overall quality, maintenance, service and food were awesome !
Few things to remember -
Its few mins from airport so you will hear sounds of flights now and then, did not bother at all, but for few it may !
And the beach is still being worked upon, meaning as of march 2025 there is no access to beach like other resorts. However you can absolutely walk to/by the beach and its barely few steps away from the pool.
Life guard is available at pool and beach with limited sight and has lots of chairs and even provide drinks by the beach.
As part of our Legendary VIP package, we received complimentary airport transportation, which was a great perk. The resort itself is incredibly accommodating, particularly for families with young children. Housekeeping is provided twice a day, and anything you need, the staff goes out of their way to provide.
A special mention to Mayra at the spa—she gave an amazing massage, was incredibly accommodating, and created such a soothing experience.
Despite some previous reviews mentioning slow service, that was not our experience at all. The service was efficient and attentive. Additionally, the resort is extremely clean—we did not encounter any cockroaches or cleanliness issues during our stay.
Overall, we highly recommend this resort for families or anyone looking for a relaxing, well-catered vacation experience!

The decor and ambiance of the resort were stunning. Each space was thoughtfully designed, creating a luxurious yet welcoming atmosphere. The attention to detail was evident, from the elegant furnishings to the calming color palettes that complemented the natural surroundings. It felt like a perfect escape from the everyday hustle and grind.
The drinks were equally impressive, with a creative cocktail menu that showcased local ingredients and unique flavor combinations. The pool area and bars were vibrant and inviting, making it the ideal spot to relax and enjoy the beautiful weather. Most importantly, the staff were attentive and friendly, making sure that every need was met with a smile.
With my wedding set to take place at Ava in August, I couldn't be more excited! The resort has truly set the stage for what I anticipate will be an unforgettable celebration. I highly recommend Ava to anyone looking for a luxurious getaway or a stunning venue for special occasions.
The food was awful and my husband along with many other people in our group (we had approximately 1000 in our group) contracted food poisoning. My husband spent three days out of our 6 extremely ill and not able to leave our room. The buffets were not cleaned properly and the food was not prepared properly. One example is, we went down to the buffet on the South side around 12:45 for lunch and there were just a few items out at this time. One of them being mashed potatoes with the spoon from breakfast with scrambled eggs still all over it laying on the spoon rest, in front of the potatoes! This is not okay by any means. Unfortunately, the buffets were the only option for lunch.
Regarding the room, when they did show up to clean it, they did not restock the toilet paper, coffee or mini fridge. When I called down to request these things, I was told they would bring them and nobody ever showed up.
The location of the hotel is very far from anything else and they did not have many extracurricular activities planned. When we had to take a taxi to town, it costs us $120 round trip.
I do not recommend this hotel. There are many all inclusive resorts that are much nicer and more sanitary!
Service: The poor treatment of the staff is a constant, with the exception of some outstanding collaborators who maintain a good attitude. The service usually improves only by receiving tips.
Restaurants: Although the food is good, the service is poor, especially at the Italian restaurant Veranda, where waiting times are excessive and dishes can arrive cold or reheated. Desserts tend to sell out quickly, even after being ordered.
Pool and beach: The pool is large and comfortable, but the beach is dirty and has limited space.
Reception: The check-in process is slow and disorganized, with wait times exceeding one hour and poorly trained staff. Compared to other hotels in the same chain, such as Hard Rock, the difference is noticeable.
Facilities: Many areas of the hotel appear unfinished and poorly done, with visible defects such as poorly made patchwork and uneven paint. The finished areas, such as the cafeteria, Copal restaurant and lobby, are attractive and well designed.
Warning: Legendary sellers try to recruit “partners” to fund future projects, presenting it as an exclusive benefit, but the review calls it a scam.
In general, although it has positive aspects in its design and some spaces, the poor service and incomplete facilities overshadow the experience.
We loved everything about Ava Resort, but the highlight was the Mexican restaurant Copal. The food was incredible, and the service was top-notch. Our server, Rodrigo, was phenomenal—attentive, friendly, and truly made our dining experience unforgettable. Highly recommend!

Couldn’t find a fork in the buffet so I asked an employee and they said they don’t have any more forks
They run out of alcohol at every bar before 6pm
I was told they only stock the bar once a day and if they run out no more will be brought
Take 25 minutes for someone to even help you
Bars close at 11pm
Order room service bc they closed the buffet by 6pm on January 1st
Room service said it’s going to take 2 hours to deliver the food and when the food got delivered 2 hours later the order was wrong and cold that is just funny
After a couple days of dealing with bad service plain food my family and I just started laughing at the more ridiculous things that would happen

THE WORST RESORT IN CANCÚN
They only comment they have it we are sorry please try us again
We are Hard Rock HOF members and some of the benefits that we receive at other Hard Rock resorts, unfortunately do not apply at Ava. Additionally, the staff does not seem to be empowered to make decisions to improve the guest experience. One example was at Bao restaurant. We requested and were seated at the sushi bar. There were four of us and one did not eat seafood. We asked if he could order off the restaurant menu instead of the sushi menu and were told that we would have to sit at a table (and not the sushi bar) to order from the restaurant menu. There was no one else at the sushi bar the whole time we were there. We spoke with the manager and he told us that he could not deviate from the rules. We were allowed to do this at HR Cancun and HR Cabo and were disappointed that Ava would not allow it.
There should be a consistent level of benefits and services at all Hard Rock resorts. It’s unfortunate that we will probably not visit this resort in the future, especially since we were initially so excited to stay there.
Here are the 5 points of complaint about the Ava Cancún Resort hotel.
1.- MISLEADING ADVERTISING. The hotel is not finished yet, they sold me the image of the super hotel finished and fully operational by Legendary, with all the luxurious paraphernalia that a Resort with 1,800 rooms and different restaurants, areas, etc. means.
2.- The entire interior of the hotel is full of dust, that fine dust that is released when polishing and/or patching construction parts... as I mentioned, the hotel continues under construction... this is harmful for people sensitive to allergies... and complaining is useless …unless you want to choose the most intelligent of Mr. González's answers which he quoted. “YOU PUT YOUR CHILD'S HEALTH IN DANGER”… Mr. González admits with his comment that the AVA Resort Cancún Hotel is DANGEROUS when staying there….
3.- Staff with a lack of training... as is the case of Mr. González, who does not help but only frustrates the guest with his service attitude totally lacking in the famous CUSTOMER SERVICE. And above all his star comment (with great fanfare) “WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FOR WITH THE COMPLAINT?”,, I felt like I was in a gringo Stand Up place… with that black humor… followed by the reaction of the condorito comics “PLOP !”
4.- I never got a response regarding the compatibility of connecting a Play Station 5 with the hotel's televisions... I went through 3 people, without a response to the request.
5.- Quality of the food products they use in the pool... be careful here... if you travel with children like in my case, be careful of the snacks they offer you... since my son was sick to his stomach because of the snack that he received in the pool. pool area. And the consultation is a separate charge from the hotel…. It's either that or take him to Cancun to the hospital.
I made my complaint in writing... I highly doubt that Mr. González will pass it on to management or transcend it... be careful... they are for improvement... if customer service bothers you, you have to look for better options to dedicate yourself to.
My room was 559.
What was redeemable were two ladies in the lobby who were always aware of my son's health when he got sick with his stomach. And the doctor who treated him.
Rooms are also very good
The geographical location is relatively remote
The restaurant food is very delicious.
I believe that Xinkai will get better and better in the future.
There were a lot of leaks from the ceiling throughout the building. Needed to be careful not to fall. Only 2 shops open for shopping. The pool is amazing but you cannot go to the beach at this time. I think maybe later but not sure. Lots of walking to get to everything so if you have mobility issues may not be the resort for you.
Don’t be scared of the drive to get to the location was a little scary because it back off in the woods!! They need to work on that entrance our driver was confused as well!
I may come back in a couple hours of years because it has potential but they need to work on it!!
