We arrived on a Sunday around 4:00 PM local time. Check-in took about 20 minutes. Note: AVA requires a $100 USD refundable deposit per night, which is released at checkout if there are no extra charges.

Once we received our wristbands (which double as room keys), staff personally guided us to our room—S743 in the south tower. The south tower is designated mainly for adults, while the north tower caters more to families. This layout makes sense, as most kid-friendly activities and pools are located toward the north, while more restaurants and bars are concentrated in the south.

Room Overview: Ocean View with a Private Tub

Our room featured a standard ocean view and a tub on the balcony—perfect for soaking while enjoying the view. The room was spotless and stocked with snacks, water, and soft drinks in the mini fridge. It also had a smart TV, rain shower, a spacious wardrobe, and 24-hour room service. Everything you need for a comfortable and stylish stay.

Dining Experience: From Buffet to Fine Dining

That first night, we checked out the buffet located on the north side of the resort. Food quality was excellent—especially for an all-inclusive. The variety impressed us, though we weren’t fans of the pizza (the oven didn’t do it justice). The following mornings, breakfast at the same buffet was a highlight—fresh, varied, and consistently good.

We also dined at several à la carte restaurants during our stay:

Black Iron: My favorite. I had the sea bass with mashed potatoes—great presentation and flavor.
BAO: Great desserts, fish with noodles was solid. Sushi was average.
El Copal: Must-try for traditional Mexican soup—absolutely delicious.
Chez Moi: This adults-only French restaurant offers classic Parisian-style cuisine. While the ambiance was elegant, the onion soup was not to my liking. However, the service was excellent.

Pools, Bars, and Activities

The resort features multiple large pools, including an adults-only infinity pool with a Jacuzzi and a kid-friendly area with slides. Most pools are open to everyone, but we noticed at least one reserved for exclusive members.

One of my favorite areas was the family pool in the north tower, especially the swim-up bar—I highly recommend grabbing a Pacifico beer while lounging there.

There’s plenty of walking between towers, but staff are available with golf carts to shuttle you around. If you’re traveling with young kids or older family members, this is a big plus.
